There are some good reasons to focus on all the Prairie Provinces though. The Garland Encyclopedia of World Music, for example, has several sections about the Prairie Provinces. Folk music of this area is distinct from elsewhere, and some musical traditions (like the Metis, Ukrainians and religious minorities) are spread throughout all three provinces.
