- 1941 - Mass deportations by Soviet Union authorities take place in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania
- Even though this event is mentioned in the Timeline of World War II, it is not yet a dated part of any articles. The closest mention is in the Lithuania article, but the article does not date this event. Thus by the guidelines, until this event can be placed and dated in an article, we have to move this event out of the Selected Anniversaries. Ancheta Wis 04:55, 14 Mar 2004 (UTC)
1985 - TWA Flight 847 is hijacked by Hezbollah - since there's no artlce about this hijacking, can we come up with something else? RickK | Talk 05:04, 14 Mar 2004 (UTC)
1940 Auschwitz was opened by Nazi Germany I believe this is an incorrect date. The Auschwitz museum [1] says it was opened mid 1940. The Wikipedia article says Auschwitz I was founded on May 20, 1940. This should probably be removed from the list of June 14. Ydorb 23:42, 9 Apr 2004 (UTC)
Mass deportations of Baltic peoples
[edit]- 1941 - Soviet mass deportations and murder of Estonians, Lithuanians and Latvians begun.
- Why is this not included??? It is the most significant event that took place on this day!
- Where is the wikipage on this event ? -- 64.229.230.103 17:22, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Flag Day in the US
[edit]A link to Flag Day in the United States would be nice, please. Maybe next year. Thanks. -- 64.229.230.103 17:25, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)
June 14th, the birthday of Karl Landsteiner, the scientist who led the initial characterization of the ABO blood groups, is celebrated by international organizations such as the International Society of Blood Transfusion, the International Federation of Blood Donor Organizations and the World Health Organization (WHO) to promote blood donation. (See also http://www.wbdd.org/) It's too late this year, but hopefully, we can put World Blood Donor Day on MainPage next year. --199.71.174.100 (talk) 23:56, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
Perpetrators of the flight 847 hijacking
[edit]So although the June 14 page says it was Hezbollah, the article itself is more ambiguos. I edited this page to say it was Hezbollah assuming the June 14 page was enough, and Zzyzx11 reverted it saying:
"the TWA Flight 847 article specifically mentions "Lebanese Shia Islamists" - until the contradiction is corrected on either of those pages, its best to leave no mention here"
So what should it be? I think it should at least meantion "Lebanese Shia Islamists with connection to Hezbollah" as the perpetrators.Ya'ir Hunter (talk) 09:05, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
