Oy--we can look forward to moving this to characteristic (abstract algebra)

Larry is no doubt correct that the mathematical part of this article should be moved elsewhere. Does anyone have a preference for the new name? Both characteristic of a ring and characteristic (algebra) seem OK to me, but Larry's suggestion of characteristic (abstract algebra) looks unnecessarily long-winded. --Zundark, 2002 Feb 3
