Torkaman-Chay Treaty, the treaty that was signed on February 1828 by the governments of Iran and Russia in the Torkaman-Chay village [in Iran's East Azarbaijan], after a series of violent wars in Caucausia and Azarbaijan between the Iranian and Russian forces. The treaty consists of two parts. (1) The political treaty, that replaced the Golestan Treaty and, according to it, the Iranian government turned over Nakhjavan [Naxçivan] and Irvan [Yerevan] to Russia and accepted to pay five million current tomans or twenty million silver manats to Russians as damages.
