The result of the move request was: Move as proposed. Orlady (talk) 02:51, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
Loyalty Island languages → Loyalty Islands languages — Based on a discussion at Admiralty Islands languages, where the majority of editors support moving the article from "Admiralty Island languages" to "Admiralty Islands languages" I looked at the Loyalty Islands literature to see if such a move is appropriate here as well.
- William Bright, 1992, "Loyalty Islands languages", International Encyclopedia of Linguistics, volume 2
- John Lynch, Malcolm Ross, & Terry Crowley, 2002, The Oceanic Languages, page 776, "Loyalties subgroup" (in Iaai article), page 888, "Loyalty Islands f[amily]" (in classification)
- Ian Maddieson & Victoria Anderson, 1994, "Phonetic Structures of Iaai," UCLA Working Papers in Phonetics 87: Fieldwork Studies of Targeted Languages II, page 163, "...its closest linguistic relatives are the other Loyalty Islands languages..."
While the published material I have at hand for the Loyalty Islands group is not as extensive as I have for the Admiralty Islands group, it is evidence that the usage "X Islands languages" is just as prevalent in contemporary linguistics (going back 20 years) for the Loyalty Islands node of New Caledonian as it is for the Admiralty Islands node of Oceanic. --Taivo (talk) 14:57, 15 August 2010 (UTC)
- For the record, User:Kwamikagami has listed three contemporary references that use "Loyalty Island" in the attributive form at Talk:Admiralty Island languages. The discussion there will probably have ramifications for this move as well. --Taivo (talk) 20:27, 15 August 2010 (UTC)
