  2. 2004-12-29T22:45Z - I just think Wiikipedia has a systematic bias against many things biology and nature and chemistry and countryside. Specifically, it has a systematic bias when it comes to topics about sexuality. Wikipedia centers too much on human sexuality, but disregards things about biology that are essential to discussing sexuality. For, example, Wikipedia doesn't care to distinguish between "pregnancy" and "gestation" or sexual intercourse" and "copulation". Here on Wikipedia many people think that the world is just about the human world but not nature or natural sciences.
  3. 52 Pickup - History, geography and politics in Australia and Europe. Attempting to reduce misuse and abuse of non-English words and inaccurate translations. Set up WikiProject Former countries as a way of providing a neutral framework for presentation of historical states. I also work on translating and clarifying articles from the German and Dutch wikis.
  4. A R King - Expertise in minority languages, both in and outside Europe. I am also "informally" interested in related non-linguistic issues, such as cultural/political etc. minorities. While sympathetic with the overall concept of trying to compensate for systemic bias, I think SB will always exist (and therefore always need to be fought against) because it is inherent to the encyclopaedic project. I also think it is deceiving (and betrays bias) to think that the English Wikipedia can or should be "unbiased", as opposed to other-language Wikipedias, which are what? allowed to be biased??
  5. AD64
  6. Aelffin - This is a very good effort. The possibility of representing all points of view is one of the great possibilities that comes from Wikipedia's lack of space limitations. Articles are not nearly as comprehensive as they could be.
  7. User:Aetheling — Excellent effort! I have already been trying to improve articles relating to Pakistan and Afghanistan.
  8. afamiglietti I'd like to contribute in any way I can afamiglietti (talk) 20:00, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  9. User:Afddiary - As a black female Wikipedian (from the USA) who is also a member of the LGBT community, I have noticed bias in all areas central to my identity, as well as in articles about topics regarding human rights and violations thereof, namely the death penalty. I'm hoping I can combat that by being a part. Afddiary (talk) 12:27, 17 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  10. Ahruman
  11. AJR - I pretty much fit the description of the "average wikipedian", but I want to do what I can.
  12. Alarm
  13. Ali_B05 -I think that America has too much influence on world affairs and the way that people always have to follow them.
  14. Alixos - helping indigenous peoples in Asia to add content to Wikipedia.
  15. AlMac - I am a newbie here. My profession, for the past 40+ years, has been computer programming on mid sized computer networks, currently AS/400. I have had limited exposure to Analog Computers and other kinds. The vast majority of Wikipeans only know of Personal Computer which is a Systemic bias in discussing computer topics. AlMac 5 July 2005 21:26 (UTC)
  16. Ambi 08:48, 5 Oct 2004 (UTC) This has my absolute support - brilliant idea, and I'll do all I can to help out.
  17. Andrew🐉(talk)
  18. ANGCHENRUI – I have my opinions on systemic bias, which you can always enquire on my talk page! All I shall say here is that I agree with the principles of this WikiProject, so I've planted myself here.
  19. AnnalesSchool (talk) 03:00, 22 April 2014 (UTC) Hi,I'm here to ask if anyone wants to join me in countering bias against the Italians in WW2. If you feel that many Wiki articles dealing with the Italian military and Italy's involvement in the war are biased and unfair, please contact me as I am thinking of starting up a Task-force to counter this problem of systemic bias.[reply]
  20. Anthon.Eff -The biases I am most conscious of are these three: anti-Turkish bias, pro-political correctness bias, and pro-secularis bias. I am hopeful that the first can be diminished. The latter two might be neccessary evils in an encylopedia that anyone can edit.
  21. Antidiskriminator (talk) 19:06, 14 December 2010 (UTC) I'd like to contribute in any way I can.[reply]
  22. Aramantha
  23. Arbarulo
  24. Arnob1 - Hope to counter pro-Indian bias in subcontinent related articles (see Rabindranath Tagore nationality debate).
  25. Arny - Since I am not an "Average Wikipedian" (considering I am not a native English speaker), I hope I can be of some help in this. I consider myself mostly unbiased, or more precisely, when and where I am biased, it is almost always in the opposite direction than usual ;)
  26. Artificialard
  27. ArXivist - This is an excellent project idea! I have been having a problem with a group of users who are totally biased against and hostile towards alternative viewpoints. This is an example of systemic bias which I have not found when viewing articles in other language wikis. I think this project coupled with a reform in the WP:Reliable Sources standard to counter corporate, Anglo-American, and Anglophone bias would greatly help realize the ideal of Wikipedia as a universal knowledge repository.
  28. AScanner - everyone deserves information
  29. Asterion - Great idea!
  30. Atsme - hopefully there is a project coordinator keeping the ball rolling. The issues have become so complex, it's hard to distinguish between gender bias, political bias, cultural bias, COI editing, and Advocacy editing. It is all beginning to run together.
  31. Attilios 17:35, 28 September 2006 (UTC) I'm having a clash with a couple of users (in particular User:Mangoe) regularly reverting my edits trying to offer a broeader point of view about rail technology. Further, I cannot stand US or UK people forgetting to write nationality of article subjects.[reply]
  32. AugurNZ 11:46, 20 September 2013 (UTC) — While trying to write an article about a disability-related event, I encountered this systemic bias when, while trying to assert notability for my new article, most of the sources I could find were from non-mainstream media. I was told by a host at the Teahouse that if none of the mainstream media covered the festival, "then it isn't notable by Wikipedia's standards. That's how we roll. That's how we maintain our standards." The problem is, the mainstream media tend to wholly ignore events about or for the disabled community, so this attitude perpetuates a systemic bias in Wikipedia against disability as well. I have added WikiProject Disability to the WikiProjects relevant for countering systemic bias category.[reply]
  33. AugusteBlanqui
  34. User:AusLondonder Particularly interested in fighting absurd deletion nominations of non-English speaking countries and trying to improve articles related to Asia (particularly India and Pakistan) and Latin America. Concerned also with enforcing WP:STRONGNAT in relation to India, Pakistan, South Africa etc. AusLondonder (talk) 00:10, 1 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  35. AverageFraud
  36. Alex Avriette I'm more than happy to update articles with a "buddhist perspective," but I think it's important to notice also that many issues are simply irrelevant to buddhism. ... aa:talk 21:19, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  37. Awadewit 03:33, 6 April 2007 (UTC) - I have been and will continue to improve articles regarding topics in the eighteenth century; I have been focusing on two traditionally underrepresented groups recently - women and children.[reply]
  38. B. Fairbairn (talk) 05:47, 26 June 2011 (UTC) Wikipedia is by far the best website in the world when it comes to providing information on any subject. The only criticism I have is that owing to the large proportion of Americans who contribute to the site there is a distinctive bias. I am from another country and have found that there is a tendency among some of my compatriots not to use Wikipedia owing to the US bias present. Ameri-pedia is a term sometimes used to describe Wikipedia where I live. An example of bias is in the Superpower page. There are 3 images on the page: One shows Reagan and Gorbachev (which is entirely appropriate), and the other two are blatantly pro-American propaganda, one showing a massive US flag at the New York Stock Exhange and the other an American aircraft carrier. I have removed these images as not being appropriate to the page but other users keep undoing changes I make. The same applies to various other pages. Is there some way of stopping this bias from continually occurring?[reply]
  39. B.D.Mills I have campaigned for some time on the issue of Northern Hemisphere bias, particularly the misleading usage of seasons as time references. More information on this issue may be found on my user page.
  40. B.K.S.J. As an anthropologist who has studied what very different cultures have in common I can be helpful in identifying biases which may go unnoticed.
  41. Balaenoptera musculus (talk) 11:36, 14 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  42. Banno
  43. Barbara Page - active in Womens Health
  44. Barefact 07:44, 26 November 2008 (UTC) I am fascinated with Turkic history, and find that many WP articles pertaining to Turkic history are pathetic in content, deliberately impoverished to present a partial and debilitating picture. Many articles were completely deleted because they fall outside of Eurocentric vision. For an artticle completely devoid of its historical merits, see Kipchaks. Even the simple terminological coneventions need to be stripped from anti-Turkic bias.[reply]
  45. Baristarim 17:15, 15 October 2006 (UTC) Noble idea. It seems like a vicious cycle, the only way we can truly have a Wiki free of a systematic bias is if everyone spoke all languages of the world and lived in every country of the world (geopolitical bias); achieved a utopia having achieved class equality (that way we can have construction workers who also contribute etc) and generalized scientific education on a global scale (inclusion of non-scientific myths and narratives as being more important than scientific versions). I will try my best though :)[reply]
  46. bcatt - I am really noticing this bias in many ways. I think I have been successful in hoding it as a personal policy in my edits so far, but would like to up this effort to an more active level by specifically improving biased articles or portions thereof, and maybe even by specifically seeking out biased articles. Also wanted to note that a particular area of interest for me is a bias for highlighting, or treating as more important, articles on subjects that are very well known but restricted to a small or limited demographic than that of topics that are more widely (or even universally) applicable but are less well-known or realized. bcatt 00:51, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  47. BCorr|Брайен
  48. BD2412. Law - I will certainly try to be more conscious of the distinctions between the common law and civil law distinctions.
  49. Bearian (talk) 17:18, 21 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  50. Beowulf1 22:08, 8 March 2007 (UTC) - I've traveled and made friends broadly, including in the Middle East, so I could bring some of that experience to the table.[reply]
  51. Ben Babcock - The "average demographic" describes me perfectly: young, interested in computers and physics, and I don't know much about agricultural science. But I'm willing to help out, and work on expanding my knowledge.
  52. Ben Dawid - I have noticed a lot of arbitrary and unfair treatment of those who disagree with the extreme leftist agenda. The site could also do with some more traditional antipodean/South Pacific input, and more rural input worldwide.
  53. Benzocane I think this is one of the most important efforts in the Wikiworld. I'm particularly interested in making sure that political articles don't exclude international perspectives.
  54. Beth Wellington 22:59, 8 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  55. Big Adamsky - WP is a great source of facts and perspectives, with some pages containing biases and others overcompensating to preempt any accusations of bias, leading to bias ;-]. I have visited and lived in several countries and speak several languages and I feel I have a great deal to contribute in the fields of geography, history, current events and related social sciences.
  56. BigK HeX (talk · contribs) - societal topics. Identifying undue weight given to minority POVs.
  57. Bkwillwm - Native American and Latin American topics
  58. blankfaze - I'd like to cut down on as much bias/POV in the project as possible, but I'd especially like to keep Israel and its related articles free of bias. Some users, I've noticed, are on a mission to install a pro-Israel POV in the project.
  59. Blathnaid - I'll try to contribute to literature articles - there are a lot of works by significant authors that are missing or just stubs. Some history, geography and feminism too.
  60. BlueSalix - I've noticed a lot of systemic bias in Asia-related entries. I'm motivated by this WikiProject.
  61. B. M. L. Peters - Fighting bias on all fronts!
  62. ~ BOD ~ Gender mostly but also fighting discrimination on all fronts.
  63. Boko78 - Religion. 'nuff said.
  64. Bontenbal - I think that there is systematic bias of the European Union. It's far more important than most UK/US people seem to think.
  65. Bookandcoffee - I have a rural background, and would like to bring that voice to W.
  66. BookishAcolyte I'm especially interested in Feminist Studies and Science Studies-related stuff, but also willing to give a go to articles well outside that, especially if drawing on French-language sources will help.
  67. BorgQueen (talk)
  68. Bosola - I'm a fairly average wikipedia user, but I understand the importance of this issue, and I do have access to a fair few resources (I can access, if needs be, the Cambridge university library or if really needs be the british library- as such, I can get hold of some pretty handy stuff).
  69. Brent Michael Davids - neutralizing American Indian articles of western bias, especially in American Indian music and relisious studies.
  70. BRIAN0918
  71. BrianSmithson - Working on African topics, particularly regarding Cameroon. Uploading African photos to illustrate articles whenever possible.
  72. User:Brigade Piron - I hope to tackle bias on history articles, specifically African countries during the Second World War. Also working on very-much under represented Belgium-related articles.
  73. Brz7 Brz7 20:58, 17 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  74. Bsktcase
  75.  Buaidh  04:24, 8 February 2018 (UTC) – I am primarily concerned with authoritarianism, racism, antiscience, and ageism.[reply]
  76. Burek 15:09, 18 November 2006 (UTC) would love to do what I can, I'm from Slovenia and I could present this point of view[reply]
  77. —Bzweebl— talk 01:12, 18 April 2012 (UTC) Trying to keep ITN global.[reply]
  78. Carl Kenner 19:05, 16 April 2006 (UTC) - Although I'm a rich white guy, I'm also a feminist anti-racism activist who fights for the rights of the poor and oppressed.[reply]
  79. Carolaman - I am from Sri Lanka. So I could do articles on Sri Lankan people and other Sri Lankan things. I also could do articles on people from other small countries.
  80. CarolMooreDC 16:24, 8 February 2012 (UTC) Want to counter various biases vs. women and Muslims and Arabs particularly; also against libertarianism as a philosophy which crops up from time to time.[reply]
  81. CasualObserver'48 04:41, 5 February 2008 (UTC) (From my user page) I received two degrees in the Earth Sciences (non-oil)…. Then I left, stuff happens, and I grew up as a citizen of the world (with American roots)… I returned to the US for most of the 1980's, but it seemed so different, too much keeping up with the Joneses, so 'fat, dumb and happy', too perfect on many levels and subjects, so unreal compared to the rest of the world….. I see no reason to move back, especially post-September 11; the world had indeed changed. The US and much of the western world is now a whole different place. Welcome to the Middle East, people.[reply]
  82. I ♥ ♪♫ - I thought this sounded like a worthy project until read the entries of it's members. Does anybody dare to stand against anti-american, anti-christian, progressive, feminist, liberal biases and elitisms?Bias goes both ways, I value truly neutral POV.
  83. Cedar Tree - I have found so much bias in Wikipedia articles, especially in articles pertaining to Native Americans and slavery in the United States. I'm also interested in increasing the viewpoints of rural areas (which are often not reported on in secondary sources) and LGBTQIA+ people.
  84. Cerejota - Systemic bias is a scourge to the pillar of neutrality.
  85. Cerie1914 - As a Cambodian (Khmer) and a reader of WP since 2001, I joined to help fill in the gap on Cambodian history and culture with fellow editors but disheartened to mostly encounter gatekeepers devoid of any active Cambodian editors. I hope to change this and encourage more representation in WP editors.
  86. cgfoz
  87. Cgingold (talk) - I've been dismayed by the level of ignorance and antipathy toward recognition of ethnic minorities in a certain contingent of editors -- usually under the guise of "color-blindness"
  88. Charles Gaudette 08:21, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  89. Charles Matthews - Main interests mathematics, where I have created biographies to include more Soviet, Indian, Chinese and Japanese mathematicians; poetry mainly Anglo-Irish 1900-1940 but Nancy Cunard brought me here; Go hence general interest in East Asia and this clean-up operation; Uganda about which I have hardly written on WP.
  90. Chicaneo 06:47, 26 June 2007 (UTC) - decided to sign up since I'm countering systemic bias in the articles I edit anyway. I spend a lot of time trying to edit articles & expand stubs from Wikipedia:WikiProject Mexican-Americans but instead I find myself fighting off vandals, trolls, sockpuppets and Wikianarchists who want to use Wikipedia to express their hatred toward Mexican-Americans and/or Mexicans. (Many of them do not know the difference.) Their MO is to post pejorative terms, re-write articles to suit their POV, and engage in disruptive editing which creates a poisonous editorial environment, disturbs the article's editorial team, and generally works to create havoc, burn out good editors, and ruin what had been a decent article where many editors worked hard to build consensus.[reply]
  91. Chico
  92. ChrisG
  93. User:CircleGirl- I am interested in reducing systemic bias around disability.
  94. cjllw|TALK - anything which addresses under-representation and promotes thoughtful awareness of the non-Anglo world in this Wiki is a Good Thing. I have particular interests in non-European history, Mesoamerica, central Asia, the Pacific, indigenous societies and languages, but am quite prepared to research on just about any given topic.
  95. Cloveapple
  96. Clubmarx - I'm up for working on art and design
  97. Colapeninsula - Interests/expertise include literature, art, craft, architecture, but I write on a wide range of topics. Also interested in countering recentist bias by writing on pre-internet topics in culture/arts/media/history. And translating from other languages.
  98. Commissaress - I'm totally supportive of any attempt to make Wikipedia more inclusive of underrepresented minorities - particularly as a teenage, Asian female myself. I mainly do translations and social science-related articles and will try to counter demographic, linguistic and ideological bias in my fields of interest.
  99. Communikat Interested in implications of WP:CENSOR and WP:WORLDVIEW in relation to WP:CSB.
  100. Cooper-42 - Particular interest in countering the lack of good articles on issues facing children and youth - and opposing articles which make assumptions about children, or do not include them whatsoever when they should. Also interested in at least pointing-out the anglo-centric nature of the bulk of wikipedia, and am constantly frustrated by how many people refuse to acknowledge how Judao/Christian-centric the wikipedia really is.
  101. - CorbieV
  102. User:Cosmodeluxe14:14 11 June 2009 - Most articles relating to American aggression against other nations is couched in the language and euphemisms of the US government and the mainstream US media. When I have tried to add more detailed info about such aggresions, they have been deleted. For example, Nixon and Kissinger are presented from the US perspective, but the several million civilians killed by their criminal policy of massive, indiscriminate bombing in Vietnam, Laos & Cambodia are barely even alluded to. The bias is blatant - obviously millions of South Americans know about Kissingers support for right-wing military dictatorships just as millions of S.E. Asians are familiar with his participation in the destruction of Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam but the readers of Wikipedia are, for some reason, protected from this knowledge. Also, when a Wiki article states, for example, that US foriegn policy is designed to foster 'democracy', the Wiki reader should be told that although this is what the US government says, it is, in actuality, far from true - the US has much more often supported dictatorships (Marcos, Pinochet, Saddam Hussein (pre-war), Mboto, etc, etc) while the list of countries where the US has actually brought about real democracy is very short indeed. Such bias in what should be a global information site is a shame. Wiki is far too biased in favour of supporting the veiws and frames of reference of already established elites. Does anybody else notice this?
  103. Countincr ( T@lk ) 14:46, 28 May 2007 (UTC)- We are not highlighting enough article related indigenous people or their cultures which I think we should.[reply]
  104. CrafterNova [ TALK ] [ CONT ] 18:59, 23 September 2024 (UTC) I'm interested in helping to mitigate all forms of institutional and systemic bias and discrimination worldwide such as misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, transmedicalism, queerphobia, intersexphobia, DSD-phobia, pluralphobia, sysmedicalism, racism, colorism, ethnic discrimination, religious discrimination, neurotypicalism, neuromedicalism, ableism, ageism, fatphobia, lookism, anthropocentrism, science denial and so on. I'm open to helping to improve all articles, but I'm more interested in improving articles related to LGBTQIAP+ activism, feminism, science, fake news, intimate image abuse, non-consensual practices on the internet and otherwise (e.g. non-consensual porn), the dark web, ethical hacking, AI, nanotechnology and some other technologies. Let's join hands to ensure the articles reporting of information from reliable sources with a neutral point of view and appropriate representation of all well-meaning, good people worldwide! (no I promise this is not a utopian vision lol)[reply]
  105. User:Crossark User_talk:Crossark @1:04 AM CST 2 Dec. 2014 – I like "playing devil's advocate", or, as I prefer to say, "Representing the arguments of all sides in the forms in which they have been presented."
  106. CT55555(talk) 03:00, 13 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  107. Cúchullain t/c 22:35, 25 May 2006 (UTC) - Because I know Jesus probably didn't have blue eyes. This is one of the most important projects for us to do.[reply]
  108. CuttingEdge - Because this is so important
  109. User:Cypresscross
  110. User:Cyrusc—Excited about this project since I think consensus and NPOV are the two great systemic virtues of Wikipedia.
  111. Damian Doyle (talk) 19:14, 5 September 2008 (UTC) - Will focus on cleaning up biased articles, particularly with regard to Africa. Also interested in addressing bias in articles related to conflict.[reply]
  112. Dan Goodwin - Plan to expand and review non-neoclassical economics
  113. Danbold - Sounds like a great project, hope I can help!
  114. DanJazzy-Hope the project works out. It is sorely needed.
  115. DanKeshet - I'd like to learn more about lots of subjects, especially labor unions from the Global South.
  116. User:Dan Koehl
  117. Danny Yee
  118. Danny - I am particularly interested in Africa and South and Southeast Asia, history and religion. Added a former prime minister of Burundi today to get the ball rolling.
  119. Darouet - hope to contribute to non-anglophone perspective, and sub-Saharan Africa topics!
  120. Datepalm17 - great project. I'd love to help. The place does rather need this.
  121. DavidFRAS - Similar early exposure as DeLarge had, leading to a wider interest in CSB.
  122. deadkid_dk - This has always been my ideology here. I'll be working on Chinese history, obscure Japanese games (such as bishojo games, which takes up one third of the gaming market but woefully underrepresented), and sometimes Hong Kong and Taiwan articles.
  123. Deb (talk) 12:54, 17 December 2007 (UTC) - I wasn't so bothered about this topic until people started messing with the year pages by adding the DOBs of all their favourite soap stars and porn actresses (mostly American but sometimes British), to the point where the births section becomes unmanageably large and the deaths section ludicrously short. Deb (talk) 12:54, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  124. Dekyi - Very happy to have so many collaborators supporting inclusion. Join the WikiProject: Countering Systemic Gender Bias if you're inclined. -Dekyi 04:04, 2 March 2012 (UTC)
  125. dejudicibus - great idea. Too many non-English people and events are ignored in English Wikipedia. Also, since non-English sources are ignored, many facts that have sources only in other languages are often deleted. You have my support. PS See also my proposal for interlanguage connections. --Dejudicibus (talk) 15:10, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  126. DeLarge – first became aware of the issue while editing auto-related pages, many of which are incredibly U.S.-centric; subsequently discovered this place. Hope I can help, although I'm not a regular contributor to what you'd call important articles.
  127. Caballero/Historiador 21:13, 20 January 2016 (UTC) (re-adding my name with new name and signature) Dennishidalgo Historian (talk) 09:53, 19 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  128. Devildope - I support the unbiased nature of Wikipedia and strive to uphold it. I contribute strongly to the Wikibook:Go and to Go (Board Game). I am also a member fo Wikiproject:Go.
  129. DinoMo - Noble project to take on. I've done a great deal of research on "systemic bias" in portrayals of Islam and Muslims, so most of my contributions will probably be in that area. That, and sexism/gender bias. DinoMo 23:59, 1 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  130. DJCheburashka -- I'm principally concerned with the way systemic bias accumulates regarding pages for individuals (where a small number of people have a strong desire to shift the page one way, and more people have a less intense desire to prevent bias), and pages subject to upper-middle-class-white-person-centric bias. My areas of particular interest and expertise involve fraudsters, the capital markets, identifying fraud, and evaluation of statistical claims in the social sciences.
  131. Djembayz - Interested in sailing merchant ships (very underrepresented compared to naval vessels), integrating non-En article material, Wikignoming on small rural locations, minority populations, women's history, Global South. Djembayz (talk) 16:10, 20 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  132. Dlv999 - Primarily interested in countering systemic bias in topics related to the Israel/Palestine but would like to expand my contributions to other areas. Dlv999 (talk) 11:34, 12 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  133. Doctorxgc- I am currently working on science fiction novels and short stories by or about minorities (including women) to provide balance.
  134. Dojo99 - Basically here to agree. Maybe also edit the odd article or seven that give the impression that Europe is just one country, or the odd article that forgets to consider that "the law" doesn't automatically refer to US or UK Law (unless, of course, the article is about something like, er, UK Law.
  135. Donama — Firstly interested in articles about non-Anglophone or non-Western communities, and grabbing content from the prominent non-English Wikipedias can help with that. Secondly interested in various farming articles.
  136. doviende - i'm interested in expanding feminist topics, articles about imperialism and the third world, and translating some spanish articles over.
  137. Drowninginlimbo Interested in helping to prevent systematic bias on the website in regards to gender, race, and sexuality
  138. Drsyd - I believe there is a bias in holistic and alternative health. I am a doctor that believes in medicine as well as alternative therapies. When I try to edit any topic in holistic health, the bias stems toward shunning it altogether while ignoring modern studies and research. I feel articles should be required to allow more than one point of view to allow other users to point out the new research and modern science.
  139. drumguy8800 C T 09:42, 9 November 2006 (UTC) wooohoo.[reply]
  140. DStrassmann - I'm interested in countering systemic bias in articles relating to economics, human well-being, and on gender-related topics.
  141. Duey Finster - I dont feel as strongly about Systematic Bias, simply because Wikipedia will always be reflective of those who edit, be they in a minority or majority. I do feel conscious about it when I edit, but putting a "Global View" or "Local View" isn't always the right thing to do, lets make sure it fits into the project, its encyclopedic and is fact with sources, of that I am much more concerned than Systematic Bias. Nevertheless I support the effort to get more people from every background concievable to help make Wikipedia the most valuable free knowledge resource in the world.
  142. Dvyost - helping to fill in West African history, particularly Mali, also interested in world literature.
  143. Editorofthewiki 10:39, 9 March 2008 (UTC) I'm for all this stuff.[reply]
  144. Eduen - Eurocentrism and anglocentrism in the end is not even good for those who just want some good access to knowledge and history.
  145. Edwin Herdman - for me to describe a certain area of attack would be to propagate an unfortunate conception of systemic bias fighting as "fixing" viewpoints. That said, I am aware and fight against systemic bias.
  146. Eewilson – the problem of the gender gap and bias on Wikipedia (Gender gap task force)
  147. egaoblai Primarily interesting in representing issues to do with Kachin and Myanmar as well as representation for education. My concern is that the problem with systemic bias lies much deeper than what individual contributors can do. The notability guidelines themselves privilege western media above all things. For example, almost every hollywood film can be listed here due to the notability guidelines for film being merely 2 reviews in a media publication, and yet schools around the world, and personalities and institutions from non-western countries are often left out because they fail to meet the notability requirements.
  148. Egfrank - born in Uganda, traveled through Southeast Asia and Japan as a kid, grew up in the USA, now live in Israel with occasional stints in Europe. Have about ten languages (living and dead) in various states of disrepair and wish I knew more. That probably says it all :-). At present, I have a special interest in preventing regional and relgious/anti-religious and inter-religious related system bias. I am especially sensitive to how the structuring of debates and the break-down of complex topics into articles can have embedded POV assumptions. IMHO, addressing systemic bias requires a multi-faceted approach: encouraging a greater balance in the editor community; giving all editors the academic tools to support their views in a calm, kind, and reasoned way; encouraging respect for non-Western secular intellectual systems; encouraging encouraging readers/debate closers/administrators to use the project system as a counter to WP:IDONTKNOWIT; and encouraging Wikipedia:Civility, Wikipedia:Assume good faith by both word and deed.
  149. ElAmericano - I have lived in Mexico but am American. So you got the grammar, style, and perspective here. I'll help as much as possible.
  150. Eldr-fire - I am a historian. Re: this project, I am a female academic and I have a particular interest in women's history, LGBT history, and the history of indigenous peoples of the Americas - the last of which is especially poorly represented in Wikipedia articles about American topics.
  151. Eleassar - all my support. I have knowledge about Slovenia, as I live there. I also have noticed recently that many interesting biographies of not-so-well known people are missing.
  152. Electriclamb - working on topics relating to art & design
  153. Elf-friend - Well, a lot of my articles seem to fall within this category already.

  155. Elizmr - I'm interested in eliminating systemic bias in articles having to do with the middle east. I have a background in biostatistics and have done editorial work. I fit the avg wikipedian profile to a great extent (except for gender) but have travelled and lived extensively in Asia and have familiarity with many Asian cultures and religions.
  156. elliotreed - I'm interested in countering systematic bias in law articles.
  157. Ellsworth, Paine - CSB is one of the most important and profound "universal-oriented" causes in the world! A noble work, CSB will go far to improve Wikipedia and to bring all peoples closer together! – 22:29, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  158. Elostirion - Interests include the geography, environment, economy and politics of the Maghreb, cricket, developmental economics, and socialism, among other things. I generally have limited knowledge in these domains but am willing to pitch in to the best of my abilities.
  159. Elplatt - Focus on reducing bias in addiction / mental illness articles due to the associated stigma.
  160. Erebedhel I have a keen interest in cultures and indigenous languages of not-so-known places and I always find myself spending hours trying to learn more about them, I believe this is the perfect project for me.
  161. ergot - Working on topics relating to West Africa, Nigeria in particular.
  162. Ericd - For anything I can help. BTW I believe I have some knowledge about the history of Burkina Faso.
  163. Erictheenquirer - I have become concerned by the under-representation of scholarly sources by Palestinians in articles about (or close to) the Israel-Palestine issue, a problem already signalled by Israeli historian Benny Morris in 1988. While this is to a certain extent a language obstacle, those that are published in English are often on 'watchdog' sites which are frequently the target of non-WP:RS accusations, usually based on 'advocacy'. As a result, the alternative Palestinian view suffers from susceptibility to failing WP:DUE, which can easily doubly compound the systematic bias. I would like to promote the use of scholarly/peer-reviewed articles and books from reputable publishers [struggling with this and not being able to afford access to MUSE / JSTOR] nonetheless remaining concerned that so few are available. Any assistance would obviously be welcomed. I may not always be in a position to respond immediately, being under long-term medical treatment. I am a native English speaker fluent in Dutch and Spanish Erictheenquirer (talk) 11:55, 3 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  164. ErinENj - I'm very interested in helping in any way I can. I am a journalist and have a very strong belief in unbiased reporting of information. I have a background in journalism/news reporting, editing, and grammer, so I can help out in those areas. Also, I have a great deal of knowledge about chronic pain, back pain, the low back/lumbar spine, herniated discs, spinal surgery, health care and insurance in the United States, prescription medications especially narcotic medications, and similar health related issues. I have knowledge about New Jersey and the East Coast of the U.S., colleges in this area, and am somewhat skilled in internet research so I can help in finding sources and other information on any topic. I have access to journals (like medical journals, other sources that often have a cost related to accessing the source) until May 2007. I'd really like to be involved in developing this new and up-and-coming research source, and in helping the information on this site be as neutral and unbiased as possible so that it can help the people who, like myself, commonly use this site as a great source for all sorts of information.

  173. User:Figureskatingfan - As an editor, I've personally experienced the systemic bias on WP in my work towards getting The Wiggles to FA-status. It never received the kind of attention it deserved, or that other articles received. It underwent, I believe, more stringent review because of bias, because it presents life that doesn't tend to be represented on WP. As a result, I'd like to offer my assistance to any other editors who are facing the same issues.
  174. Filiocht - Mainly literature, especially women writers, hispanic writers, anything else I can help on
  175. Fionah - I've addd some worldwide info to the income disparity, teenage pregnancy and sex education pages. Also been working on gender differences. Looking out for limited geographical scope and pointing it out wherever I can. Some writers seem to forget that there’s a whole world out there beyond North America and Europe!

  181. Freedomprincess - More diversity in the range of content being contributed from "cited sources". Indigenous people have for thousands of years used oral traditions to pass down information and stories. For Indigenous people who have been under the rule of colonists, a white-version of the history has been preserved. I would like to work with the Indigenous community to provide a better framework for citing oral information from elders, songs that have not been published by academia.

  194. Gnanapiti - Interested in languages and cultures. Would like to improve articles on minority languages of India.
  195. Gnixon - I've become increasingly flabbergasted over the last month or so by the level of systemic bias present in articles related to the creation-evolution controversy, such as Intelligent design and Level of support for evolution, where anti-creationist policing by a tight-knit group of editors vastly overcompensates for the occasional bit of creationist vandalism, maintaining an atmosphere of hostility toward creationists on the talk page along with a blatant bias in the article. More recently, I've noticed that the problem seems common to all controversial topics, e.g., Abortion. Promoting neutrality on those articles' talk pages in a civil manner has roused so much hostility that I've been stalked to totally unrelated pages and had good faith edits repeatedly reverted. I think this is a very serious problem for Wikipedia.
  196. Goldfritha -- been chiefly working on combating recentism; adding and expanding historical information, reordering to prevent most recent information being most prominent. 202. But it's better than nothing, I guess, so will continue to write articles about them as they come up.
  203. Guinnog 17:14, 31 May 2006 (UTC) - Try to counter lack of good African articles. Eliminate anti-Science and pro-conspiracy theory agenda in many articles, but also balance some 9/11-related articles in the other direction.[reply]

  212. HiLo48 Continue trying to get some balance and quality discussion on In The News, and get more non-American and non-UK content everywhere. I will naturally show a bias of my own to Australian content. (We are all biased. The essential bit is recognising one's biases.)
  213. HistoryMingo My two reasons for joining this project are as follows: to combat inauthentic claims of Native American ancestry and inauthentic Native American groups, and to defend both the Native American groups recognized at the state and federal level along with any authentic Native Americans and Native American groups that are not recognized at the state and federal level and are therefore targets for unfair discrimination. As Native Americans we should not participate with the U.S. federal or state governments in suppressing any Native American person or group by carelessly and unfairly discriminating against other Native Americans while trying to protect our interests.

  221. Ilya - Wikipedia has a systemic bias on technology issues – many of Wikipedians are techies and write from that perspective. I would like to explore removing unnecessary technical lingo bias from common-interest articles. This would include pacifying the nearly-religious wars of Linux vs Microsoft that sometimes is very obvious in technology articles.
  222. ‎‎‎° hypeboy ° 💬✏️ - Very concerned with the systematic bias against LGBT people in this site. Will focus on specifically that.

  224. User:ImmortalWizard - Hello!.
  225. User:Interlingua I think this makes a great deal of sense. I absolutely fit the "average Wikipedian" demographic: white, 40s, three advanced degrees, career in education. I'd be very interested in helping to expand coverage of India (where I lived for 5 years and learned Hindi and Tamil to fluency, although the latter has since disappeared), South America, Native American languages (I've dabbled in K'iche' and Quechua but didn't even get to WikiBable level 1).
  226. User:Jaredscribe I'm proficient in French, Spanish, and Hebrew in addition to English, and have encountered a frustrating and pervasive systemic bias on wikipedia toward the post-christian, secular, probably white middle class, "youthful cab driver" perspective. On politics, there is the bias that media commentary is more important than primary sources, which creates, among others a bias toward euro-americanism, consumerism, and recentism (the notion that history doesn't matter). I've contested this problem on Hannukah, Antony Blinken, and Geneva Consensus Declaration, and essayed on the topic of systemic bias on the article talk pages.

  235. St John Chrysostom Δόξατω Θεώ Religion. The religion articles on here are very uneven in quality, some, such as many on Hinduism, having the quality of essays, and many on Judaism and Christianity being invariably critical and exclusive of religious scholarship, giving rise to a systemic bias in that regard (that Wikipedia is strongly biased towards 18-24 year old male graduate students - look at that cohort in studies on prevalence of religion - explains much). To balance out where I can, with what I know (I am no scholar of Hinduism or Buddhism beyond undergraduate studies in comparative religions, but do know Judaism, Christianity [as a seminarian], and Islam). Philosophy. Wikipedia is incredibly biased towards modern analytic Western philosophy; forget about Eastern, the coverage for pre-Cartesian philosophy or continental philosophy ranges from non-existent to, "look how smart this guy is, almost as much as Wittgenstein or AJ Ayers!"
  236. Johnny Au - Added {{globalize}} templates in many articles and I am one of the most active in this WikiProject, given that for many years, I was the only person editing the open tasks page
  237. J.T Pearson (talk) I believe that Wikipedia needs to take into account all the sides of an issue. Bias is rife in many articles that are edited by inexperienced editors. Count me in.

  248. Kimberly T. Hauser - lets keep it real!
  249. I totally agree with this project, the fact that the US and Canada editors outnumber everyone else doesn't mean that Wikipedia should be written in a way that biases towards those countries' cultures. --Kittins floating in the sky yay (talk) 13:53, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  255. Kswikiaccount I'm a person of color. I would like to help wiki become less hostile to us, women, and other groups experiencing hostility from a site that has a strong urge to exclude and harrass us. A lot of people part of this page don't seem to understand that systemic bias does not have to do with NPOV or a resistance to science. It has to do with racism, sexism, etc. As it says in the wikiproject page this is about biases "that naturally grows from its contributors' demographic groups" meaning wikipedia is filled with white, male, wealthy editors that went through western education. It has almost nothing to do with NPOV except in where there is systemic bias, of which there is almost none against the scientific fields, except when it serves to uphold racist systems against POC and sexist systems against women and trans people.

The amount of effort and server space devoted to pop culture is extraordinary, as is the poor quality that the wiki process allows in pop culture articles. --Merbabu 07:50, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  304. Miborovsky - is working on the Second Sino-Japanese War, which PRC, ROC, USA and Japan all ignore/downplay. It's a personal fight. Also a bit on Chinese military history in other periods. Also works on a few science related stuff but Wikipedia has enough of those. ;)
  305. Mighthavecause - representation of epistemological traditions different from the modern west's is an essential service of an encyclopedia that pretends to represent *human* knowledge, rather than one particular culture's knowledge. Specific concerns regarding monolithic colonialist perspectives.
  306. Minesweep0 - Some members of Wikipedia are having a bias and selective favor in regards of sourcing, weather the references are encyclopedic or based on neutral sources they will remove a statements on a sections specially if the statements and references are opposed on their views and replacing it with their own interpretations, specially the Indonesian members which is contributing not for the accuracy specially of the Philippine articles but for the conflict of interest to spread the indonesian nationalism , the indonesian nationalists are using the wikipdia as their flat form for their agendas .
  307. Mistress Selina Kyle (Α⇔Ω ¦ ⇒✉) 22:48, 2 February 2012 (UTC) — I've sent links of Wikipedia:Systemic_bias#The_.22average_Wikipedian.22 to people outside Wikipedia quite a few times when it's brought up, I suppose it's about time.[reply]
  308. MistyMorn - Having worked on the interpretation and reporting of studies in the field of evidence-based medicine/epidemiology, I'm rather sensitive to issues of bias and am aware of some of the technical and human difficulties in tackling them. Although I shamelessly tend to write on matters close to home, I do sometimes catch instances of inappropriate emphasis linked, maybe inadvertently, to religious/ideological or other POV. A particular concern regards health-related issues, where inappropriate advice can creep in due to editors not being aware of (or sometimes ignoring) the need for systematic evaluation of evidence.
  309. mms – Reading Wikipedia one wonders why anybody would want to do drugs—especially illegal drugs. Wikipedia needs more drug advertising to become a neutral encyclopedia. --mms (talk) 00:51, 28 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  311. moink - I fit the "average Wikipedian" description in every way except gender. I'm willing to help especially with feminism-related articles (specifically those related to equality feminism and liberal feminism) as well as biographies of women in science, engineering, and aviation. My major contribution thus far has been tagging feminism-related articles such as maternity leave and rape shield law as US-centric... it seems getting around one type of systemic bias correlates to incorporating other types.
  312. User:Montanabw: I have noticed that the issues facing Indigenous peoples of North America, Native Americans, First Nations people and Alaska Natives are still having bias issues - still dominated by "white" versions of their history without attention to Native/Indian perspectives. I'm also willing to help with women's issues - I'm still noticing a problem with articles on women being more often taken to AfD and having problems establishing notability. Want to help there too, when possible Montanabw(talk) 22:37, 6 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  315. MPerel - went to see Hotel Rwanda the week it opened and the theater was empty, though other movies were sold out. The genocides going on in Africa are getting far too little attention in the English-speaking media.
  316. MsTingaK I am interested in neutralising articles that show a bias or western hegemony towards non-western cultures & women which are often passed on as fact, particularly in Africa. 317. Mtaylor848 - I don't think I fit the 'average' profile. I'm a blue-collar worker, I was not formerly educated (I went to Comprehensive School and then technical college in Northern England) and I do not live in a 'majority Christian country', although to be honest I think few people do these days (its certainly not a term that could be applied to Northern Europe).

  326. Nannus I am mainly working on non-western (e.g. African) cultures (music, languages etc.). Many articles I see are Euro/US-centric and many I am searching for are missing. As far as my time allows, I'll try to contribute to change that.

  350. 352. Parkwells (talk) 21:48, 9 July 2010 (UTC) - This is an important project. I've done much work in 19th century US history, and have worked to add articles or content on social history, minorities and women, etc., which are underrepresented in these pages. Background in history and political science, direct experience in US government, and wide reading in a variety of topics make me willing to tackle new areas.[reply]
  353. Parmenides64 - We live in a global world, and the need to fight geographic bias becomes a necessity.
  354. Pawyilee - East-West cultural clashes, in particular as exemplified by that of American Edmund Roberts (diplomat) at the time of Minh Mạng (14 February 1791 – 20 January 1841), second emperor of the Nguyễn Dynasty of Vietnam, of Rama III in Siam and Said bin Sultan, Sultan of Muscat and Oman. I've neglected Roberts' article in favor of posting information from his journal to other articles. --Pawyilee (talk) 06:45, 28 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  355. Paxse - I think the project is a very important one and I'm heartened by how many editors have shown an interest. I try to counter systemic bias when I come across it. My particular interest is in Cambodia and I find that somewhat neglected historical articles - like Chenla I or Chenla II - these have been written based entirely on US government sources in the public domain. Given how little the US knew about what was going on in the countryside at the time, and domestic opposition to the war in IndoChina - It's no wonder these original sources emphasised NVA involvement (to the exclusion of Cambodian communists) in these two battles (end rant!). Nevertheless, I'd be happy to work on any articles where an extra hand (keyboard) is needed - just leave a message on my talk. Paxse 15:28, 10 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  356. Pecopteris
  357. Pedant - I came here because some of my favorite editors have this page on their 'what links here link'. I'm interested in everything, but I've sort of adopted Clown and related articles, since I have worked with and booked clown acts for over 20 years, and have taught clowning to several professional clowns. I think that 'things that aren't on the web' are in desperate need of being added to Wikipedia. I'd like to see some of the idiomatic English reworded to be more globally understandable by people for whom english is not their native tongue. I also edit a lot on legal issues (I read "legalese" and am fairly good at translating it to readable English), human rights issues, environmental protection and anti-pollution issues. My home page is set to the random wikipedia page, I typically surf my way in through there. I often edit topics I know nothing about, to learn more and to make them more readable by someone who knows nothing about the subject. I'm a rabid cross-referencer. I will happily spend time on any page that's drawn to my attention.Pedant 22:52, 2004 Oct 25 (UTC)
  358. Peregrine981 - Can draw on my vague recollections of a few African history classes in university. Currently living in S. Korea, may learn enough to help with that area.
  359. nixie - my main interests are in agriculture and development
  360. Phil Bridger. I qualify as an average Wikipedian on all counts, but in a few months I will no longer satisfy (6). My pet hate is seeing articles proposed for deletion where the subject is non-Western or non-anglophone, where there would have been no suggestion of deletion for a Western or anglophone equivalent.
  361. Philomathes2357 - I have wide interests here, all centered around countering systemic bias, but my areas of professional and educational expertise are political theory/philosophy and international relations.

  364. Pladuk - interested in including international perspectives where relevant, and also wanting to investigate ways to understand and counteract systemic biases in general.
  365. Poketama - My interest is primarily in filling out all sides of historical encounters and including Indigenous perspectives, placenames, and language, in addition to just European POV.
  366. Pollinator - There is a tendency by a number of editors to define groups and persons more by their critics than by NPOV description.
  367. Popol0707 - interested in issues regarding Quebec-Canada.
  368. PratyushSinha101 - interested in topics related to Bihar, India.

  387. Redux (talk · contribs) - I have dedicated some time to a particular kind of neglected article: the "embarrassing article". Many articles are neglected, and many topics are forgone, because their subjects are deemed embarrassing, in connection with being perceived as unimportant, frivolous or puerile, which ultimately either prevents Wikipedia from having a decent coverage of the topics or allows for the existing articles on this type of topic to degenerate into something that is not encyclopedic. Research on the topics is usually relativelly easy (although severe filtering may be required in order to maintain an encyclopedic level), but the more skilled users will not touch them, unless their intervention is motivated by the need to resolve revert/content conflict or technical issues (too many redirects, unsuitable language, etc.). So I make it my business to include some of the topics that are left out unjustly and, once the topic is in, I strive to keep it within encyclopedic standards. As examples, I have created many articles related to tv shows and worked hard on some of them and others that I did not create myself to maintain the Wikistandard.
  388. Reggaedelgado - I am especially interested in topics and articles that need more culturally competent or inclusive language and facts... I find that far too many articles reflect and are limited to a "white" view and sometimes reject a fuller understanding.
  389. User:Relir - I'm interested in topics and articles that offer human population classification beyond national, social, geographic and cultural lines. I notice that topics/articles relative to this keep getting deleted no matter how populated they are. I'd also like to specifically contribute to articles relative to Equatorial Guinea and it's Ethnic groups.

  391. Rhododendrites - I do all sorts of general Wikipedian work, am involved with the education program, and research Wikipedia for academic purposes. 406. ShabbyHoose I'm a relatively new editor and quickly noticed an understandable - but problematic - Anglo-American bias in many issues around global history, geopolitics, and current affairs. 448. Thebiguglyalien
  449. TheLastAuroch. A Kiwi chick and mum of four, I'm based in Dunedin. Interested in neutrality, precision, and ideological blind spots.
  450. The Literate Engineer. Yep, I'm from the United States. But, I'm a well-educated feminist, so I'm interested in the women's studies section of the to-do-list. Also, non-anglophone literature (although I could only ever read Spanish besides English). Also, like Idont Havaname, I want to work against the (recent) pop-culture & entertainment bias Wikipedia has.
  451. The Minister of War - Great project! Huzzah! I myself am a half American, half Dutch political scientist with a keen interest in Central Asia and the European Union, though I am a generalist more than anything. Am frequently disgruntled at implicit Americo-centrism in articles on various topics, such as (gasp) Anti-Americanism. Would love to help alleviate those problems!
  452. The Prophet Wizard of the Crayon Cake {Prophesize) Indeed, an excellent project. Although I fit into a lot of the "common Wikipedian demographs", I critisize pretty much all societal norms. I'll try my best to conciously notice cultural and demographic bias in articles, although my knowledge of most topics is relatively limited.
  453. ThePlatypusofDoom
  454. Random Say it here! 00:41, 17 May 2007 (UTC) - International business & economics.[reply]
  455. The Way - Got a BA in political science and philosophy--particularly interested in international relations--can help out where needed
  456. MrKent - Not too fond of bias... popular opinion does not equal fact. :) World Champion Bigot-Baiter.
  457. TheLateDentarthurdent So that Laotian prehistory gets at least as much attention as Pokemon cards.
  458. Tiamut 22:16, 5 November 2006 (UTC) i'm a palestinian woman (with israeli citizenship) whose lived the east and the west, on a mission to expand the realm of permissible thought, to take the elimination of systematic/systemic bias where no man has gone before. respect.[reply]
  459. TicketMan
  460. Til Eulenspiegel. I have unofficially considered myself a member for a long time, so it's about time I officially signed up. As I explain on the current incarnation of my userpage, since this project has been dwindling lately, what needs to happen next is for it to get a much stronger voice than ever.
  461. Timeshifter. Great project. I want to see more focus on admin bias, and methods of resolving it. Also, Wikipedia:WikiProject Arab-Israeli conflict.
  462. -- TinuCherian (Wanna Talk?) - : I dont have a bias to any nation, My primary aim to help building articles for all countries of the world in a fair and accurate manner.sil
  463. TK-P 02:35, Mar 9, 2005 (UTC) - I am a theatre artist, educator, and scholar working in the fields of Gender Studies and Cultural Studies. I am also particularly interested in diverse teaching and learning styles. Students in the Introduction to Women’s Studies courses that I am currently teaching in the USA have been exploring Wikipedia. In mid-March 2005, these students are contributing Wikipedia entries on gender issues. This assignment was inspired by the counter systemic bias project. I welcome your input on this assignment and invite you to comment on these entries which are listed on my user page.
  464. Tiputini I work to take the elimination of systematic gender bias in the Pompeu Fabra University.
  465. TomJord - Music tends to move me, as history doth improve me! 'Ah the wordld is in a terrbidle state of chassis!' But I can try my hand at seein' why that is.

  469. ??????????? Because the Dasoguz Province is just as important as Bavaria.Turkmenbashy 12:21, 18 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  470. User:Twhitmore.nz I am concerned by militant skepticism, pushing a pseudo-scientific (pre-determined assumptions, not open to genuine inquiry) aggressive POV. Concerns include "funding bias" in evidence supporting Western medicine, "medical error" bias in that 250,000 deaths per yer (US) are ignored -- yet non-Western medicine is attackde by skeptics.
  471. User:TyrS I try to edit to promote inclusiveness, particularly in the areas of geography, culture, gender and species (androcentricity) and (to borrow some of User:Zenswashbuckler's eloquence, below) address Amero/Eurocentrism and status-quo-ism (particularly the latter on Wiktionary, where, unfortunately, I've found that a male-privilege-informed ideology is not only endemic but also militantly protected).--TyrS (talk) 23:56, 14 February 2010 (UTC) --TyrS 18:04, 26 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  472. UberCryxic 17:35, 24 September 2006 (UTC) Glad to be part of this project. I will mainly work on making articles that I run across have a larger share of global perspectives, something which I already am doing. Now I'm just going to be more conscious about it.[reply]
  473. Umofomia - linguistics, particularly Chinese
  474. Universal Life - I like to contribute about a variety of subjects such as biology, genetics, linguistics, phonology, yoga, spirituality, history etc. I'm against all POV and also against deletionism that tries to delete all articles with the excuse of notability, articles that has non-English references, that has not much been covered in the Western world. Unfortunately there is a bias in the English WP and there're groups of editors, wikilawyering or edit warring to keep anyone away from changing the bias. I hope, I can contribute for a better WP in all aspects.
  475. Urthogie - As a pseudo white-negro I will attempt to represent for all the cultural appropriators that seem to be widely disliked by both blacks and whites.
  476. Most of my content work has been in the areas of South Asian and Latin American political history, which are very poorly covered relative to the English speaking world. Vanamonde93 (talk) 00:22, 26 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  477. UrsaMajr (talk) 02:45, 29 October 2024 (UTC) I would like to address America-centrism in Wikipedia as well as Medical biases and other issues I notice.[reply]
  478. Varano 15:20, 15 September 2006 (UTC) I fully endorse the idea of this project. I'm mainly an editor at the spanish wikipedia, also in need of CSB. So, by the moment, what I`ll do is find articles at this project page and translate them to spanish.[reply]
  479. vgriffeth - including more articles on women scientists and athletes.
  480. Vonkje - combat Western marketing biases, like the Beauty Myth, the automobile, presuming the universality of Western values, and the mission to acculturate the rest of the world.
  481. Vsion - updates current events in Africa, and south-east Asia.
  482. Wai Wai: Good ideas! I'm a non-English-native speaker. I can help to provide different opionions. :)
  483. Wandalstouring: I will work on articles about tools (real handcraft), etc.
  484. Warofdreams - I've recently been writing about sub-Saharan Africa; am mostly interested in international and labour articles.
  485. WebDeals - I intend to be focused on ensuring the inclusion of all significant viewpoints, and stymieing the propensity toward recentism.
  486. Wikiacc
  487. Wikicpa Bias of any kind in information of encyclopedic nature makes the information itself incomplete and unreliable.
  488. Wikihunter734 - here to do my bit to counter bias in Wikipedia.
  489. Wikimachine 20:07, 14 August 2006 (UTC)) - I want to mitigate Korea-Japan related biases and pro-Republican viewpoints.[reply]
  490. Wikinerd - I think Wikipedia has systemic bias in favour of itself, Wikimedia, Wikia and its members. Wikinerd 03:31, 16 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  491. Wizzy - like Elf-friend said ..
  492. Will Lakeman - hopefully I can help spot bias towards the political beliefs of the first world, and also help render articles on academic (arts-related) topics in everyday language.
  493. Wintermute – Having passed the 1'000'000 milestone, this is probably the most important project for english Wikipedia.
  494. Wishva de Silva
  495. Wl219 21:28, 17 July 2007 (UTC) - Here to help wherever I can.[reply]
  496. Wongjerang - Wikipedia has an obvious bias toward those Wikipedians addict who dominate the edits just because they can and they have spare time in hands
  497. WookieInHeat - ironically even the countering systemic bias project suffers from the very symptoms it seeks to cure. of all the people in this list who identify bias in arab-israeli conflict related topics as their reason for participation, only Zakouma correctly identifies bias from both sides of the dispute as an issue. although this is not my primary area of participation by any means, i do try to keep an eye on it when i can.

  499. Xompanthy I'm onboard, this problem needs to be dealt with. -- xompanthy 00:06, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  500. Yksin 17:18, 18 July 2007 (UTC) - I work on a lot of articles having to do with Alaska Natives & Indigenous peoples of North America, which are frequently dominated by "white" versions of their history without attention to Native/Indian perspectives. Also working to improve work on Finnish mythology and related articles, which are plagued with misinformation based on nonscholarly English-language sources. --Yksin 17:18, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  501. Yohananw As a non-custodial father in Israel, I'm interested in contributing to such en-wiki pages as "fathers rights movement in Israel". Also to do CSB in the he-wiki which seems totally skewed to radical feminist take which defines the family solely as and around the mother. (This my CSB declaration is perhaps overstated as I am still relatively new to wikipedia.)
  502. Yorrkshaa - Degree in Ancient History and Philosophy. Knowledge of history (particularly social and military), European and South East Asian politics, classical and 18th century philsophy. I find there seems to a large bias towards the English speaking nations on the English wiki; natural I suppose but still in the pursuit of truth and knowledge it'd be better for everyone if there wasn't any.
  503. Josiah 03:00, 21 Oct 2004 (UTC) - Karaite History - when I first arrived here, pages detailing Karaite history were horribly incorrect...
  504. User:Yuchitown 03:29, 5 June 2024 (UTC), Indigenous topics from Indigenous perspectives, especially Indigenous peoples of the Great Plains and Northeastern Woodlands.[reply]
  505. YungMike513 06:45, 27 June 2006 (UTC) I want the Egypt page to have at picture of at least ONE black person.[reply]
  506. Yworo (talk) - problems with the article on Libertarianism made me realize the importance of this project.
  507. Zach Alexander I'm interested in philosophy and progressive forms of religion.
  508. Zakouma In the Palestinian-Israeli Collaboration project - and I think that bias (from both sides) is the only threat for that project.
  509. zandperl - women in science. I was doing it anyway.
  510. Zappaz - Alleviating bias against emerging religions and Eastern religions by researching and editing articles that are tainted by prejudice and/or lack of sources representing the POV of these religions.
  511. ZenSwashbuckler - I fit into 10 out of 10 pigeonholes, but experience hath shewn these to be as inevitable and inescapable as disco and bell-bottoms, if we're willing to make the effort. Looking to make the effort on scientific illiteracy, Amero/Eurocentrism, status-quo-ism, and others... (11 May 2010)

  514. Zleitzen 15:05, 12 April 2006 (UTC) - Concerned with the systemic bias in articles relating to the politics of Cuba. English speaking Wikipedians are limited to sources which are rarely neutral on the matter of Cuba. For example, users have been relying on the CIA world fact book for basic information for lack of a more credible source. The inherent problems here are obvious.[reply]
  515. Zosodada - I hate systemic bias! -- but not so much as outright misinformation... or excessive wordiness... but I hate it more than Yoda-speak! and that's a lot!
  516. ZyXoas - Knowledge of African linguistics and culture as well as the technical side of music production. Based in South Africa.
  517. Pete 08:42, 8 Oct 2004 (UTC)
  518. Bohemian Baltimore - Interested in countering racism and bias against Native Americans and other Indigenous peoples, anti-black/anti-African racism, anti-Romani racism, whitewashing, Christian-centrism, and Jewish erasure. Interested in intra-Jewish multicultural diversity. Interested in countering erasure of working-class and poverty-class culture. Interested in emphasizing both present and pre-colonial Indigenous culture and heritages that are frequently erased and misrepresented within settler-colonial states.
  519. Gen. Quon - I'm interested in countering bias with regard to non-male and non-US representation. I would also like to be more mindful when it comes to sourcing by actively considering the complex socio-cultural power dynamics that led to the production of those sources.

  523. Zukisama (talk) 16:00, 16 May 2021 (UTC) - Religion, philosophy, race, culture. But more broadly, I'm interested in linguistics, divisiveness and culture. How subtle (or blatant) narratives can polarize, marginalize and incite.[reply]

  525. Prodraxis {talkcontribs} (she/her) 14:15, 15 August 2023 (UTC) I want to increase the coverage of often-underrepresented Korean topics in Wikipedia. Sure, due to Hallyu and stuff there are increases in coverage, but there are still large gaps to fill.[reply]
