I removed the line "Shes the best!!!!!" from the article. It is unsourced opinion, not sourced fact, and violates Wiki's NPOV policy. Bellalunarena —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.99.123.48 (talk) 17:53, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This was tagged on at the bottom of the page. If any of it is correct in needs incorporating into the article and tidying: Facts about Alyson. - Won small awards for dance contest at school. - Hate spiders. - Was considering to be Scienologist. --MartinUK 17:06, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Can anybody cite the thing about her dating one of the sprouce twins??

Does it really matter? Did they get married? Did they get divorced? It does not matter if they dated or not. Wikipedia is not a gossip column and their personal dating life is not encyclopedic. They are just children. Fighting for Justice 06:21, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

I have removed 2 external links that are not appropriate for the article. The ones are left are definitely appropriate. See WP:EL. I removed TV.com link as is an aggregate search link. The YouTube link is only peripherally related to the subject. The fact that Alyson is an assistant to Lindsay could be in the article and this link could be used as a reference to that fact, but does not stand on its own. "This webpage is designed to promote Lindsay T. Kids' Hip Hop Class for 6-18 year olds. Lindsay and assistant teacher, Alyson Stoner, have been friends for a long time and teach a Friday night class to promote a healthy lifestyle and positive learning."

Alyson's Official YouTube Account

Please read and understand Wikipedia style guideline outlined in WP:EL before adding anything and explain why they fit in the guidelines. --NrDg 16:48, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I added back http://www.tv.com/alyson-stoner/person/220291/summary.html as it is not a search but a direct link to her page there. --NrDg 16:59, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

http://www.youtube.com/user/LThiphop was listed as Alyson's Official YouTube Account in the article. I removed the link because the site itself does not confirm that assertion. I would have no problem if there was something WP:RS and WP:V that made that assertion. Her official website is WP:RS. Give me a link within that site that confirms the assertion the I can independently verify and refer to that link in the article would meet the WP:V policy - I did look and couldn't find it. I am not trying to be obtuse here, I just want to make a good article that meets Wiki standards. --NrDg 18:13, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You can't be serious. Either you are blind or lying. How much of a confirmation are you looking for? The Youtube site says, "While Kelsey does run this site, Alyson and Lindsay are just as involved." In other words, Alyson is just as involved with running the site as Kelsey and Lindsay are. It also has a link to Alyson's official site AlysonStoner.com. Have you seen any of their videos? Half of them are Alyson's personal videos that have nothing to do with the dance class. You say you want a link within Alyson's official site confirming that LThiphop is Alyson's official Youtube account? The MAIN PAGE at AlysonStoner.com says, "I uploaded a few videos to Youtube.com/user/lthiphop..." With the "I" being Alyson Stoner herself. But if that's not obvious enough for you then here's more. I'll even provide links for you so you can see for yourself. On Wednesday, June 27, 2007 she wrote...

Do you want me to go on? Ospinad 23:00, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Not necessary for more, one was sufficient, the last one was the best, but please put a cite in the main article with at least one of the above in a way that is linkable. You have the information, make a reference. Here in the talk page is nice but it still needs to be in the article. That is all I needed in the first place. See WP:REF for details on how to do it. There are so many posers on myspace and youtube that any link to those locations needs some pretty convincing references for them to be believed. Also glad you decided to take this to the talk page instead of arguing it in the edit summaries. --NrDg 23:31, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I'm glad you finally saw the light, lol! I know that there are a lot of posers out there, especially on Myspace, but I thought you said you looked on her website and didn't find anything that convinced you it was real. I was worried you were going to ask me to find something on the front page of the New York Times confirming it.... Well I tried adding the reference. Let me know if you like it. Ospinad 17:18, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Looks good. I added some details to the cite and included the cite quote from above. Now you can link directly to the entry. Hopefully this will head off people trying to add a MySpace or some other poser account to the links list. I appreciate the effort you did to research this. This improves the article by adding a good solid verified fact. Thanks. --NrDg 17:48, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Because the You Tube site is not specifically about Alyson and more about the hip hop group she teaches, I changed the title of the link to reflect that. The You Tube site specifically says that is what the site is meant for, therefore the name was changed. Having the title as "Alyson Stoner Official You Tube Account" one would assume that when you click on the link you would only see videos of just Alyson. The description of the site clearly states that it is for Lindsay T. Kids' Hip Hop Class for 6-18 year olds. Lastly, the page even states "While Kelsey does run this site, Alyson and Lindsay are just as involved!," thereby showing that the name of the link be changed. Thanks! References

[edit]

In this whole thing there is only one reference. How am I supposed believe any of the things such as "Stoner is now working on music for her debut album. Rumors swirl she has signed a major deal but reports have yet to surface on exactly which label she has signed to." is that really true? This is something that needs a reference. The idea is too radical. Also, it says, here and on the Camp Rock wiki article, that Alyson posted, on her blog, that she was going to star on the new Camp Rock movie. This doesn't have any references either. Could someone work on this please?--Bansidh 01:28, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I found a reference for her being in Camp Rock from her official site but couldn't find one about her recording a new album. Maybe there is something at her youtube account. Ospinad 20:03, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Change of name

Per WP:COMMONNAME, this article should refer to the most commonly-used name, and I've recently reverted an unsourced change of name to the infobox on the basis of this. Sentence needs revising under "Music" headline

[edit]

Evidently the page has been vandalized enough that the edit function has been removed for all but those with authority (of some degree), and I don't remember my log in information, so I can't see if I can fix this while logged in.

The sentence "In 2005, she sang two songs from the soundtrack of the movie "Alice Upside Down" Lost and Found, and Free Spirit, in which she plays the lead role." should be changed to something resembling "In 2005, she sang two songs ("Lost and Found" and "Free Spirit") from the soundtrack of the movie "Alice Upside Down," in which she plays the lead role."

As it stands currently, the sentence makes for some confusing (and improper) associations. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.217.233.83 (talk) 03:30, 28 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've revised the sentence. - Purplewowies (talk) 07:47, 8 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Religion

[edit]

If a source is needed for Ms Stoner's religious beliefs, I'd suggest this one is okay. —Tom Morris (talk) 16:03, 22 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Unless her religion is a major part of her notability, it doesn't matter. Which it isn't, so it doesn't. a_man_alone (talk) 18:49, 22 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That doesn't even say what her religious beliefs are. She's just touring with a Christian singer. For An Angel (talk) 20:29, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox Image Discussion (2021)

[edit]

Can we please update her main image? We can use the one from 2019 that appears later in the article. Her previous image is from twelve years ago (back when she was still a teen), and she looks quite different now. UncomfortablySmug (talk) 06:59, 4 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

For adults, portrait image quality is more important that "currentness". The current 2007 portrait image used in the infobox is a good portrait image – it's a headshot, and properly framed as such. The 2019 image is not a head shot, but a whole-body shot, and is not very good – IOW, it's a poor portrait image. So I oppose using the current 2019 image in the infobox – it's in the article, so it's there for anybody who wants to see a more "current" image of Stoner. If someone wants a more "current" image for the infobox, they're going to need to find an image that's an actual well-composed headshot image like the 2007 one. --IJBall (contribstalk) 13:18, 4 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
How can I find and add an image that fits Wikipedia's criteria? UncomfortablySmug (talk) 21:08, 4 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
That's the problem. Wikipedia usually only has a very limited selection of images for most bio subjects. When this is the case, image quality has to be prioritzed over "currentness". --IJBall (contribstalk) 21:36, 4 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The issue the user by the name of IJ Ball isn’t wanting to accept the fact that the “current” photos of Alyson Stoner should be the main photo for the page. I don’t understand why this user is mad at me for modernizing the page and caring about the person? 76.89.124.220 (talk) 21:36, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Pronouns

[edit]

Alyson goes by They/Them so I changed the pronouns in the wiki 😌 72.191.16.15 (talk) 01:25, 20 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

There is no reference for that and no sourced mention in article. Geraldo Perez (talk) 03:16, 20 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I believe past attempts at this indicated she goes by "They" or "she". If that is the case, it does not merit mentioning at all. --IJBall (contribstalk) 04:11, 20 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Also I'd like to see some reliable secondary sourcing as support with some more meat than a settings form mention on a social media site. Sufficient to support a section in the article that supports this as a considered choice and reasons for it. Geraldo Perez (talk) 16:23, 1 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This is also what I would like to see – more than just an Instagram page. An actual independent source actually discussing this. --IJBall (contribstalk) 16:56, 1 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I just reverted a bunch of changes reinstating the they/them pronouns. I took a look, and Stoner's instagram page does indeed note 'they/them'. On the other hand, her 'Movement Genius' biog has she/they (link), her personal website uses 'she' and the gendered term 'actress', and her YouTube channel uses 'her'. So, it doesn't seem clear-cut that Stoner has a preference for they/them over she/her. Girth Summit (blether) 11:44, 4 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
the instagram post stating they/them was from last week and their youtube channel hasn’t been updated in a year so i think explicitly stating they/them and not she/they in a recent source and their instagram bio should be the authority here Alysonstonerpronounchanger (talk) 12:10, 4 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
What about the other sites, like the Movement Genius biog and personal website? Have they ever spoken about this to your knowledge, in an interview or similar, or are we just going off those pronouns on the Instagram profile? Girth Summit (blether) 13:14, 4 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
the blog and website haven’t been updated as recently as the instagram post. what makes the post an inadequate source? requiring a secondary source, like “an interview or similar”, sets a standard wherein queer people have to formally “come out” in the form of a notable enough announcement to make news. gender identity is often a private matter and discussing it openly may not be something alyson wants to do yet or ever especially being that the decision to make their identity known to others opens them up to discrimination as the violent backlash and lack of legal protection against trans people increases daily Alysonstonerpronounchanger (talk) 23:13, 4 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There would be no backlash to her making an announcement and she knows that - most likely is support and positive affirmations from people. If she actually wants to keep it private we should respect that and not amplify a social media tag into a very noticeable change to her Wikipedia article. We shouldn't be taking this seriously until she herself does. When she does, that will be reflected on all her social media accounts and she would be telling people about it and why she made her choice. Geraldo Perez (talk) 23:24, 4 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yikes, is that how this site truly operates? It comes from the persons own mouth and is their own words and that's not a valid source? RaptorGirl97 (talk) 21:37, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
None of which deals with the request above for something more than a social media site from Stoner on this – No change should be made without a secondary source actually discussing this. --IJBall (contribstalk) 15:13, 4 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
read my reply to girth summit Alysonstonerpronounchanger (talk) 23:13, 4 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Interview mentioning their pronouns. https://people.com/alyson-stoner-says-they-were-fired-from-kids-show-after-coming-out-as-queer-7552607 213.122.137.27 (talk) 21:21, 23 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
How about we stick with "she" since it makes grammatical sense and doesn't make the article ridiculously confusing? 2601:547:CA01:72B0:B567:36CF:8C6F:D63E (talk) 03:41, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So the person themselves has said they don't use she/her pronouns, and your answer is "I know better and demand I get a say in what they identify as? I will never understand why it is so hard for people like you do give others basic respect when THEY personally ask for it. Sorry it is so hard for you to be a decent and caring human. So How about we stick with "they" since it's not your decision. What's ridiculously confusing is your lack of concern for others. RaptorGirl97 (talk) 14:15, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not all of the pronouns are changed. I cannot edit the page but there are at least two instances I saw that are still "she/her." Alyson uses "they/them." 135.134.179.148 (talk) 18:55, 9 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
