The Lost Peninsula of Monroe County, Michigan
[edit]What political entity separates the "Lost Peninsula" that is politically part of Monroe County, Michigan from the rest of Monroe County--i.e., to get from the Lost Peninsula to any other part of Monroe County, you must travel through Lucas County, Ohio to do so. Is the Lost Peninsula part of the City of Toledo, Ohio, part of the City of Oregon, Ohio or an unincorporated part of Lucas County?
- There are two peninsulas which are in both Ohio and Michigan on this map. The western, smaller peninsula is Washington Township at the Ohio-Michigan border, the eastern, larger peninsula is mostly Toledo, with a sliver of Washington Twp on the eastern shore. I am guessing the larger one is the one you are asking about. To get to MI there, you would have to drive through Toledo. See the map link (Census map as of 2005) for what I am talking about. Hope this helps, Ruhrfisch 16:27, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
My question was poorly worded. I meant (1) what township in Monroe County, Michigan contained the Lost Peninsula and (2) what political entity in Ohio (Toledo, Oregon, or a TWP) separated the LP from the rest of Monroe County.
- Looking at the map link I gave, it appears that Erie Township in Monroe County contains the lost peninsula (all three possibilities) and Washington Twp in Lucas County or Toledo borders it. Ruhrfisch 17:41, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
