Continuity
[edit]Continuity question: While Odin vs. Celestials is a fairly well-established event, I am aware of any events wherein Galactus' power is superior, much less considerably superior, to Odin. Indeed, the Odin magic in Thor's hammer drove away Galactus once. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.245.92.20 (talk • contribs) 04:11, 23 January 2006
- I don't recal Odin ever facing the Celestials in battle, although I could be wrong. I remember, roughly 1,000 years before present day Earth, the Celestials had planned to judge Earth as to whether or not it was worthy to survive. They told Zeus and Odin that they would return in 1,000 years and if the "gods" tried to interfere, they would sever their respective dimensions' connection with the Earth. I remember that the Asgardians and at least some of the Eternals sought to challence the Celestials once they arrived, or rather the one Celestial that arrived. Odin gathered the life energies of as Asgardians, with the exception of Thor, and placed them into the Destroyer. This caused the Destroyer to grow to at least 2,000 feet in height but even the combined might of all of them wasn't enough to even damage the Celestial and, as a result, all of the Asgardians were killed and had to be resurrected by Thor by obtaining an amount of power from varoius leaders of "god" pantheons. As far as Galactus goes, I think that it's generally accepted that Galactus' power is at least on the same level as that possessed by the Celestials or the Watchers. After all, Galactus' power operates on such levels that he's forced to consume the life energies of entire planets. In my opinion, I think it'd be safe and fair to say that Galactus' powers far exceed those of any of the "godlike" beings worshipped as gods on Earth. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Odin's Beard (talk • contribs) 03:44, 5 March 2006
- Odin has been officially stated as comparable to a Watcher, and Galactus, like the Stranger, a bit above. Even regular Celestials have demonstrated power enough to create and contain entire universes. Galactus, under regular circumstances, has not came anywhere close to matching that. However, he does have the potential to gradually absorb the entire universe, and as such is potentially leagues above Odin. Odin did face the Celestials by absorbing the power of all Asgardians, likely more than doubling his power, and animating the Destroyer. If I don't misremember he cut off the arm of Oneg the Prober, but it healed back again, and he was destroyed by a cumulative blast from several Celestials at once. Odin's power level
[edit]Odin has clearly defeated both Thanos and The Silver Surfer.
Odin never clearly defeated Thanos. Superman did clearly defeat Thor, however. —Preceding unsigned comment added by KalElKryptonian (talk • contribs) 22:02, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
Odin being able to take a soul away from Meohisto establsihes that although he may not be as powerful as Galactus persay he is still significantly more powerful than even Thanos or the Silver Surfer. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Coldbrotha (talk • contribs) 12:14, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
Merge Gungnir (comics)
[edit]- merge/nomination a non-notable fictional weapon, that is often never utilized. Clearly satisfies not criteria for notabilty or notarity per Wikipedia:fiction and Odin arcticle is small enough that it could easily be incorperated. - 66.109.248.114 (talk) 01:32, 22 December 2007 (UTC).

Image back and P & A
[edit]Image back, and so is the tidied up P & A. A look at the P & A reveals it was in need of a cull. Any character really only needs 4 or so examples or what they can do, and there's no point in having smaller efforts in there when there are numerous examples of larger feats, which should also be listed in ascending order according to the "wow!" factor. The mention of Gungir is also now in a small section that deals with Odin in combat, which is appropriate.
Asgardian (talk) 10:15, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
- You've repeatedly made attempts to cull his largest feat that I know of, the galaxy-destruction, Vastly growing in size and endowing powers is similarly notable. The former entry was not overly long by any common character standard. Again, there is no good reason whatsoever to cut it down to this extent. That said, I have trimmed down the less relevant entries somewhat. Dave (talk) 11:10, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:T-294.jpg
[edit]Image:T-294.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Odin (character) → Odin (Marvel Comics) – The article was moved in late 2019 without discussion from "comics" to "character". While WP:NCCOMICS does say to use "character", per the list of entries at Odin (disambiguation), this isn't the only character with this name. Wikipedia:Naming conventions (comics)#Between characters of different publishers says to use "Marvel Comics" in this situation. Gonnym (talk) 08:36, 28 June 2021 (UTC)
