Spanish names should be alphabetized under the patronym, e.g. Ramón SERRANO Suñer comes before Reginald H. SULLIVAN. --Wik 15:47, 1 Oct 2003 (UTC)

Oh, I had "no idea." If not changed back, it shall be. Katagelophobia

In response to the big news!!! Excellent discovery of a great boob!! One person that I added above, Abigail Eliot, was a person I originally couldn't find a death date for. It was found on that social security death site. Just wondering, are their any other people you can think of that have got an unknown birth or death date. If so, write em' in below and I'll search for them.

Congratulations!

Longevitymonger

I do recall one man who I believe was listed on the Life in Legacy obit site earlier this year, but I don't think he had a birthdate. The man's name is Theodor Jacobsen and he was an astronomer. After doing a short Yahoo search on him, he does have some stuff (and some pretty good oldy pictures too). Give him a search and see what you think. I believe his years are (1901-2003).

Katagelophobia 18 Dec 2003

P.S.: Found Jacobsen on the Social Security Death Index site. Born February 6, 1901-July 17, 2003 at age 102.

Longevitymonger

Dec 20, 2003: Remember Neta Lohnes Frazier, that obscure author? I found her on that Social Security Death Site. She made it to 100!--April 18, 1890-June 2, 1990. It's up to you whether or not we should add her. She still doesn't have allot o' info.

Longevitymonger

I'm sure by now that youv'e heard about the death of Etta Moten Barnett. I found the dates for Denise Columb (April 1, 1902-Janaury 2, 2003). Also on that celbrity death site, there was a man by the name of Arthur R. von Hippel (November 19, 1898-December 31, 2003) who is really worth it. He was a scientist who made significant contributions to the development of radar.

Give him a search and write back what you think: Here's 2 websites to look at (one of which has a really wrinkled face!)

http://www.legacy.com/LegacySubPage1.asp?Page=APStory&Id=6983 http://www.eecs.mit.edu/AY98-99/announcements/5.html

Longevitymonger

Use that man! What an individual. Times like these make me angry we didn't know about him before he died. Also, I assume you meant to type January 2, 2004 for Denise Columb's death date.

Katagelophobia

Got a new boob for the list, an influential Spanish politician named Antonio Garrigues. He barely made it to 100, and Lifeinlegacy even listed him as dying at 99, but he made it. Check out the article below (it even has the dates).

Article Licensing

[edit]

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

Wotherspoon,Uhlmeyer,etc.

[edit]

In reverting some silly stuff on the Centenarian article,I inserted Uhlmeyer instead of Wotherspoon because I thought she was more worthy of mention--she lived longer and actually remembered the disaster.I note both their bio articles have been tagged as "unencyclopedic"...I really think that we have to reduce the number of listed centenarians to ones really deserving of encyclopedia articles and not just people who just happened to survive a century without doing anything that would make them important if they hadn't done that.Only supercentenarians (and far from all of them) are noteworthy for longevity alone!--Louis Epstein/le@put.com/12.144.5.2 02:45, 16 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Maybe this calls for a "last survivors page" (Titanic, General Slocum, etc.)? Otherwise, point well taken. I simply included her on the page because she already had a page about her. Katagelophobia 17 Feb 2005

Sup Foo! Tis me relating that Peter Jennings, Barbara Bel Geddes and the Radcliffe are officially cadavers, joining the rank of Mrs. Genevieve Russo Guido born sometime in 1896 and died on May 1, 2005. Just figured this old biddy was worth some importance. I take it that everything in D.C is kosher, so I'll leave ya be. Give Dubya a groin kick if you run across him, just for purposes of sanity.

You'd better friggin check this out! I just found a clown that has been on here for a bit, sort of like Ancel Keys was. John Haden Badley (1865-1967) english educator. Gimme a call when you get the chance.....the noted oldy list has about 60 new editions.

so I say unto you the name George Adams Graham, and goodbye! Longevitymonger

Howdy sir, just wanted to report on a new 1906 find that probably isn't on your oldy list, Mr. Henry Beachell, a winner of the 1996 World Food Prize. He was recently added to the Genarians website. Longevitymonger

Howdy!

[edit]

Much obliged sir, just writing to note that Zhou is on my "Noted Oldy" list, which is undergoing some needed tweeking (removals and such). I found a whole slew of newbies (or soon to be centenarians) on the Wikipedia German page. All ya gotta do is go to the page and search Liste berühmter Hundertjähriger and it'll bring up the centenarians list in German, but with alot of persons we dont have. An added bonus on the list is 1906 and 1907 people (in a separate section) that will turn 100 soon (Robert Hakim, born 1907) is a damn good find.....check it out and continue to locate people!!! All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at Talk:Philanthropist. You may remove the deletion notice, and the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. — Sebastian (talk) 03:31, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

And Things Of That Nature.....

[edit]

Howdy sir, and thanks for remembering that goon, I'd totally forgotten him. I trust you've added him to the list, along with the other 1906s... Henry Beachell just died, you probably knew that but I also hope you have Silas Simmons on the list as well. Longevitymonger

a bit of a memoriam....

Stunning news today as former President Gerald Ford shuffles off the mortal coil at age 93. There have been unconfirmed reports that he was mauled by a circus lion prior to his death, Richard Nixon wanted for questioning. RIP Jerry. Longevitymonger

A New 1907

[edit]

Howdy again, just found this person on here, and she has some more info on the net. Salome Gluecksohn-Waelsch. Just discovered this guy on the wiki Errol Harris, an eminent South African philosopher born February 19, 1908- and is alive. The List.....Returns with Avengeance

[edit]

Howdy. Just reporting that I've started on the Famous Centenarians List again (the big one with pictures, which I did once before.) The old one was around 175 individuals, the current one looks to be around 500!!! Taking into consideration that there are 527 people on my list (as of October 22), I counted about 20 or 25 that didn't have pictures. I am giving you a mission, if you choose to except it, to find pictures like we did awhile ago at Prendergast, and like you did at Fredonia. Seeing that you're in Washington and near the Library of Congress, you might have some luck. I'm gonna try to get this thing done, and not do it half-ass like I sometimes do (starting but not finishing.) Here's a list of new goons that I've found (some added to Wiki) and another list for the pictureless goons.

The Good the Bad and the Picture-less

[edit]

Henry J. Gaisman (find me a picture of this goon!!!!)

Jacob Sapirstein

John Aikman Stewart (there was a painting of him on the net, but it ain't there now)

Guy T. Buswell

Donald N. Ferguson

Judah David (Julius) Eisenstein

Peter Joseph De Muth

Victor Bonomo

Carrie Tubb

Antoine Pompe (yes... this worthless bastard. Find me a picture or I'll fill your life with misery and woe :)

Joseph Judson "J.J." Cohn (this guy was one of the founders of Metro-Goldwyn Mayer! And he got jack squat!)

Jack Liebowitz (7 years dead and still no photograph)

Sir George Ernest Schuster

William Pascoe Watkins

Walter L. Morgan

Do what you can, and if you find anyone new (like Andrew Burry) report back....Woop!! Longevitymonger

This just In

[edit]

I have removed Phil Christison, Preston Bassett because I found pictures. Also, while doing my list I decide to research some people and found this out: Catharine Sargent Huntington WAS NOT 100. She was 99. Her birthdate (according to the Social Security thingy) was December 1887, not 1886. She died in Feb. 1987, so she didn't make it. Strange, manily because shes been on the list awhile. Write back what ya think, and e-mail me if ya find pictures.

Even more jack-assary

[edit]

I went to the library yesterday and managed to re-locate that picture of Schlink as well as Ernest Griffith. I also found a new one of Charles S. Dewey in middle age. Here's hoping to Jacques Barzun not copping out before November 30!! Longevitymonger

[edit]

Hi again. Still plugging away on the list. I've found three new goons that may be of intrest to you being that they're alive.

Olin Stephens- April 13, 1908- has an article on here and a few pictures on the net. Some refer to him as the greatest yacht designer ever. Quite a compliment. He aint got long to go before he's 100.

Kathryn Wasserman Davis (February 25, 1907-): Found this woman in a 2007 Who's Who book at Prendergast. Shes a philanthropist and foundation head. She's got alot of info and had a huge write up in the NY Times when she donated 20 million dollars for various peace projects. http://giving.princeton.edu/makeagift/donors/davis.xml (with a face)

Dr. Saburo Shochi (August 16, 1906-): Japanese childhood development educator with some stuff http://www.discovernikkei.org/forum/node/1337

If you haven't already seen, Sam Dana has joined the ranks of the deceased (so you can finally take this goon off your living list!) Longevitymonger —Preceding comment was added at 23:15, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In other news....Walter Bitterlich=

[edit]

I just discovered a new goon that you may want to take a look at. His name is Walter Bitterlich (born February 19, 1908) a world renowned forestry expert. There are a few articles mentioning him turning 99 this year and the German wiki has him as alive. He even has a face. What do you think? (on Olin Stephens the rest of the above mentioned people.) http://www.proaxis.com/~johnbell/itp/itpbitterlich_more.htm —Preceding unsigned comment added by Longevitymonger (talkcontribs) 16:22, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

An Addendum

[edit]

As more and more people seem to keep popping up, I feel the need to keep certain individuals informed. I was browsing the 1908 page and came across a few persons on here that are very much alive and notable. Longevitymonger

Marina Semenova (June 12, 1908-) the first Soviet-trained prima ballerina. Nice article.

Reginald C. Fuller (September 12, 1908-) Clergyman, Reverend Canon of Westminster Cathedral in England.

Bernard Bierman (August 26, 1908-) American lyricist , is listed but hasn't an article, and it says he's alive.

Rica Erickson (August 10, 1908-) Australian naturalist, botanist and artist. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Longevitymonger (talkcontribs) 17:55, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

And Robert Couturier (May 2, 1905)- he ain't on here but he's got lots of info on the net (especially for his 100th.) An artist and architect, everything I found seems to indicate that he's still alive. Longevitymonger —Preceding comment was added at 17:53, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A Mission, If You Choose to Accept It

[edit]

Hello! I have a bit of a quest for you, and hopefully you'll come through. Within the past few weeks, I have begun to revisit something that's been sadly overlooked in recent years....the dreaded "Political Strange Names" folder. I'm sure you remember well all of the scraps of paper, lists and work that went into that damn thing, including the lists that you yourself gave me. I was hoping (if your time permits) that you could scrounge around and dig up any new ones that might strike you as odd (names of the Ner Middleswarth variety.) I've begun a revamping of the old list (a very long story) and it is nearing 700+, and there's some interesting new additions (Feramorz Little and Zerubabbel Snow are two that come to mind.) So, if you manage to find any while pouring through an old book or surfing the net/Political Graveyard, put em' on my talk page. Take care and hopefully we'll see each other at Christmas.

Oh, and two names have been bugging me. Berthelot LeClaire and Goldsborough Sappington Griffith. You found them, and they have nothing on the net in terms of info or political stuff. See what you can find!!!Longevitymonger (talk) 00:10, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes Sir, Yes!

[edit]

You are indeed correct. This time around the person has to be political or have held elective office or they don't go on. I have had to build from the ground-up for this list/folder and hopefully it'll turn out to be a real humdinger. Here is an example of a new one that I just found 2.

I can't remember if I filled you in about a guy named Raymond J. Saulnier, a major player in the Ike administration. I found him on the NNDB website saying he was born September 20, 1908, but couldn't find anything else about him being alive.....until now. You're going to want to add this guy. Here's a revised list of the living list that I've been compiling. Newly discovered persons are bolded. The Deads

[edit]

These are a list of people that probably weren't on the oldy list that I gave you last Christmas. All of the 2008 deaths are on this list, most of which you probably know about. I was also comparing your "Noted Centenarianists" list to mine and I found numerous people that were absent from your list, either because you're going senile and forgot to add them, or, you're just dumb! Either way you probably have your reasons, so without any further adieu, here they are. I would have listed what some of these people are notable for, but in the intrest of lazyness, I didn't. The people that have articles on here can be clicked, and the ones that don't have good info on the net. Take special note of Anne Abbott (1808-1908), Charles Toberman, Theodore Cooke Taylor, Sir George Ernest Schuster and Joseph "J.J." Cohn. Longevitymonger (talk) 00:00, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also, I have provided this group of people on your list that should be removed, as in they really didn't do anything to warrant being on there in the first place! Also, Ive noticed mistakes on both lists (wrong birth-death dates, incorrect ages, new middle names) and I'll post again before Christmas so that you may correct them, if you so choose.Longevitymonger (talk) 00:11, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

And in other news....The Obama Cabinet

[edit]

Well, I've been compiling the list for the incoming cabinet of Barack Obama, and am guessing you have done the same (for your presidents folder.) In case you haven't, here it is. In my view these are pretty good picks, even though I'd like to have seen somebody else get the Sec. of State nomination! Longevitymonger (talk) 18:47, 18 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A recent discovery, Sir George Godber

[edit]

This man you may want to add to your list. His name is Sir George Godber (August 4, 1908-). Makes me glad I found him while he's alive. Longevitymonger (talk) 00:27, 20 December 2008 (UTC) 5 6[reply]

Some Minor Mistakes

[edit]

I was printing out the "N.C." List that you'll get at Christmas and I noticed some minor discrepencies between yours and mine (wrong dates, ages, new middle names) here are the "corrections".

 • Christian Huerich was born September 12, 1842, not March 7, 1842. His actual age is 102 years 194 days
 • D. Howard Doane died February 19, 1984, not September 5, 1984. His actual age is 100 years 204 days
 • Sir Provo Wallis died February 13, 1892, not April 26, 1892. His acual age is 100 years 277 days
 • Harriett Clisby's actual dates of birth and death are August 8, 1830 - January 1, 1931 not what I originally gave you. Her actual age is 100 years 146 days.
 • Catherine Sargent Huntington (I might have mentioned this on your talk page awhile ago) DID NOT make it to 100. I remeber you finding her on a website and then telling me about it, so I added her to my list. A look at the SSDI site reveals she was close, but she didn't make it to 100 (1887-1987), not 1886-1987. 7. She's another Bishop Joseph Bonhomme, basically. Longevitymonger (talk) 05:02, 21 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
 • also Aaron Director, who's birthdate is actually September 21, 1901, not November 17, 1901. His actual age is 102 years 355 days.

Hi!, I think?

[edit]

Just got your message, and hopefully you just got what I wrote! In response to your query, yes Jane Richardson Hanks is still hobbling around. The two links below state that she celebrated a 100th birthday. One only mentions it in two lines, the other site is some symposium thing for her 100th. God speed Sir! 8 9 better info.

How 'bout that Sir George Godber, a good find or what!!!!Longevitymonger (talk) 05:10, 21 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Another New Discovery(s)

[edit]

These 1908s just keep popping up! I found this woman on Yahoo and she has a Wikipedia article, and a pretty good one at that. Her name is Ida Pollock a British romance novelist (April 12, 1908-).Longevitymonger (talk) 20:08, 21 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In addition to the above, here's another woman you may want to add. Her name is Eleanor Josephine MacDonald, a pioneer in cancer treatment. I got excited because the site didn't mention a death date, but she died on July 27, 2007 at age 101. Still a good add though.

A tag has been placed on Alexandra Adler requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Non-free image use

[edit]

Hi Katagelophobia. The licensing of each media file you see used on Wikipedia is determined by it copyright status and not every file you see on Wikipedia is licensed the same. Some files are licensed as public domain or licensed under a free licensed suitable for Wikipedia and these are often collectively referred to as "free images". Other files are licensed as non-free content because of their copyright status and these files are commonly referred to as "non-free". Non-free content use on Wikipedia is highly restricted and each use of such files must satisfy Wikipedia's non-free image use policy. One of these restrictions is WP:NFCC#9, which says that non-free content can only be used in the article namespace. For this reason and as explained in WP:UP#Non-free files, non-free content such as File:J. Bracken Lee.JPG, etc. cannot be used on your user page. Perhaps you didn't see the edit sums I left the previous times I removed the file; therefore, I'm posting this here to provide more explanation. If you have any questions about this feel free to ask them here, at WP:MCQ or at WT:NFC, but please don't re-add the file or any other non-free files to your user pages. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:42, 10 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
