This article is practically a word for word copy of the History page on the P&G site. Revise please. "Old Spice is now the No. 1 antiperspirant/deodorant stick and body wash brand in the United States." Is there any way to prove this claim?

Red Dragon

I just watched the film "Red Dragon" and I believe Hannibal Lecter said: "Something a child would select" not ""Something a child would wear". Social Stigma?

Is there a social stigma associated with Old Spice? I would refer to this post and this webcomic. There is obviously something going on, but I don't know what. Sailing Ship logos

It appears the Grand Turk referred to was a privateer built in 1781 in Hanover, Massachusetts for Elias Hasket Derby of Salem, MA. [1] She was a brig of 300 tons. If this is correct the reference to the original motif beginning during the "Colonial" period may stand as accurate by a matter of several months.

The Friendship originally linked to was an obscure and short-lived British transport ship that carried prisoners to Australia and was scuttled unceremoniously just four years after being launched when her crew caught scurvey off of Borneo. Poor History

Above is stated: "This article is practically a word for word copy of the History page on the P&G site." How true and how sad. Not a word about old products. Not even a picture of the old White Glass shaving mug, and the appropriate refills, that were ousted (removed from the product line) about 1990. Research your smellf

See history. The add campaign slogan was "Believe in your smellf". Not "smelf" or "smell". Examples abound, Google it. Pictures in article

Re this edit: I removed these images paertly because they were sandwiching the text, which is not recommended by MOS:SANDWICH, and partly because they were repetitive and did not add anything significantly new to the article. There is not a great deal of text in this article and one, or at most two images are enough. Merge advertising

The details of the advertising campaigns on separate pages seems excessive, so I suggest merging at least Make a Smellmitment into the advertising section of Old Spice. Over the years there has been some pretty obvious WP:COI editing here. The average person is not interested in writing about advertising campaigns for a product, but you can guess who might be interested in doing this. Various editors have tried to keep this article on topic by writing about the product itself rather than getting bogged down in the details of the various advertising campaigns, the staff involved etc. This should not be given excessive prominence in the article.--♦IanMacM♦ ^{(talk to me)} 06:21, 22 December 2017 (UTC)

To some extent yes. There are WP:DUE and WP:TOPIC issues here, because the article is about Old Spice, not the advertising campaigns of Old Spice. The article has already experienced problems with excessive details about the campaigns.--14:08, 22 December 2017 (UTC)

Whistling Theme Song

There should be a mention of the famous Old Spice whistling theme song, when it debuted, who wrote it and what its traditional name is 2607:FEA8:10E0:1C00:1D52:C8CA:E290:418A (talk) 18:26, 17 February 2020 (UTC)

There is some sourcing here. It says "Old Spice has been using some variation of a six-note whistle in its advertising campaigns since 1953. For example, this commercial from 1972 features a whistle that sounds like a refrain from the folk song, “Scotland the Brave.” My Scottish ancestry recognized this straight away, but it isn't the entire tune. Also, I wonder if the whistling tune has ever been used in Britain, or only in America. Ask a British person to name the music from an Old Spice commercial, and they are likely to name "O Fortuna" which accompanied the man on a surf board back in the 1970s.--♦IanMacM♦ ^{(talk to me)} 19:49, 17 February 2020 (UTC)

Adverts

What is the copyright position on "pirated" YouTube adverts, such as this one and this one? They usually last not longer than 30-40 seconds. There are "proper" ones of course, like this one, from the Official YT site. But does the copyright holder really care about their old adverts being seen all over the internet?
