Second or third oldest Christian Brothers?
[edit]It says both in the article, is it second or third oldest? Awiseman 19:32, 4 May 2006 (UTC)
and the calvert hall article says st. john's is the third — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.50.231.147 (talk) 14:45, 10 January 2014 (UTC)
Third Oldest

Chris Wright?
[edit]How can he be a D-1 basketball player if he's class of 2007? That doesn't make any sense. --Awiseman 05:21, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
He's a highly recruited prospect, but not a college basketball player yet, so I'm removing his name.
Gonzaga Rivalry
[edit]Is there a place in the article to explain the obsession with Gonzaga talking trash on a Wikipedia 'talk' page instead of on the football field. You guys need girls. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 76.202.60.159 (talk) 23:18, 30 March 2007 (UTC).
Delition proposition
[edit]I have tagged the page for deletion because it lacks notability to be in this proyect, sadly Wikipedia looks more of a USpedia or a Irrelevantpedia or a Wiki because the proyect lacks a more firm control of the notability rule. Debate here if u support or oppose the deletion.--Andres rojas22 15:57, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
- I disagree. This school has produced several notable alumni ([1] [2]). Also secondary schools tend to pass notability per WP:OUTCOMES. Yes, there is a problem with bias, but please do not prod notable topics to make the WP:POINT. • Gene93k 20:36, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for File:St. John's College High School crest, color.png
[edit]File:St. John's College High School crest, color.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

What can be changed?
[edit]I would like to update this article and bring it more "up to code," as it were. What changes/additions/etc do you think need to be made or would you like to see? Obviously I should proofread the entire article. Additionally, is there some way to register articles to be watched by administrators for potential vandalism? This article has suffered from that frequently and reversion from vandalism takes quite a while. --Jeopardyfish (talk) 03:29, 5 April 2009 (UTC)
Notable alumni
[edit]Wouldn't a recipient of the Medal of Honor qualify as notable? See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_M._McGovern — Preceding unsigned comment added by HelMar63 (talk • contribs) 16:40, 3 November 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, Robert M. McGovern is notable because he has an article. However, if you include him, ensure there is a WP:RS tying him to St. John's. Student7 (talk) 16:07, 10 November 2015 (UTC)
- I removed quite a number of supposed alumni who did not have articles here [3]. I left a few who could be presumed notable even without articles. Some of the ones I removed may well be notable, but will require articles to show this. Meters (talk) 00:15, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
Meters what is your criteria for whether a person is notable for inclusion in a list of alumni? I don't believe that the Wikipedia criteria for Notability, which is used to determine the standard for whether a person should have their own page, should be the standard for this list. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Juanstor1 (talk • contribs) 15:30, January 27, 2020 (UTC)
- School alumni lists are not merely lists of alumni. They are lists of notable alumni. The standards for establishing notability for people (and thus for having articles about them) exist, and longstanding consensus is that we do not list alumni who do not have wikipedia articles to establish their notability. Exceptions can be made (as I did here) for people who would clearly qualify for an article per our notability standards if one were written for them, but simply being a doctor, or professor, or CEO is not sufficient. See WP:WTAF, WP:NLIST, WP:SOURCELIST and WP:ALUMNI. Meters (talk) 04:23, 29 January 2020 (UTC)
Famous alumni
[edit]Why are there so many missing alumni Eddie1666666 (talk) 18:02, 20 July 2023 (UTC)
- This has already been explained in the above thread, and on your talk page. Alumni without English Wikipedia articles to show their notability, or without reliable sources to show their attendance should not be listed. Meters (talk) 00:34, 21 July 2023 (UTC)
No president
[edit]The reason why I removed mr Mancabelli is because he left St. John’s and I will update it as soon as I know who our new president is Eddie1666666 (talk) 22:25, 20 July 2023 (UTC)
- Restored. The school's website https://www.stjohnschs.org/about/presidents-welcome still shows him as president. CAn you provide a reliable source showing that he is no longer president? Meters (talk) 00:40, 21 July 2023 (UTC)
- Yeah here https://www.collegiate-va.org/our-school/our-leadership/head-of-school/incoming-head-of-school Eddie1666666 (talk) 01:05, 21 July 2023 (UTC)
- And also my school takes a while to update the page Eddie1666666 (talk) 01:07, 21 July 2023 (UTC)
- Your source does not say that he is not longer president of St. John's College High School. It says he will become head of a different school in July 2024. You need a source that says he is no longer the president now. Meters (talk) 02:30, 21 July 2023 (UTC)
Sports players
[edit]Hey guys let’s stay updated with each famous alumni sports player because they might change teams Eddie1666666 (talk) 18:42, 25 July 2023 (UTC)
