Talk:Downloading conciousness
the article on 'downloading conciousness' was deleted and the link redirected to whole-body transplant. As there are many more means of downloading conciousness proposed than growing a new organic human bodies, and the discourse is different, there is absolutely no excuse for equating the two activities. An advocate of downloading into robot bodies, for instance, would object to saying that his research goal is morally equivalent to growing a new human body for an old human brain to live in. The interaction between the two goals is complex, and it is quite possible to discuss say the technical issues of one without discussing the technical issues of the other. The articles should reference each other but not be the same article.
- I agree, but I can't find any old text to restore in the article history. Nor does it appear in the deleted-articles list, or in the history of whole-body transplants. Where did it go? Bryan
- don't know where things go when the name is redirected - it seems like a form of censorship, since as you noticed the original text is hard to restore. The article as it now stands contains all the important ideas and links, although it could probably benefit from some advocate of this line of research listing all the wonderful things we can expect from this technology. As it stands, the article seems to be critical of the proposal.
