[edit]Ahem, ignoring the below in favour of something more relevant and, er, intelligible: Given that The KLF contains far more information on the band than this article - including when they were known as the JAMs - is there some way we can at least give this link more prominence, to direct interested readers in the direction of the fuller article? I'm not sure how best to re-organise it, but if you were looking for the band here, you might miss a whole lot of info there... - IMSoP 20:51, 7 Dec 2003 (UTC)
- Pleased to say that I reorganised The KLF articles and merged them into one and as of 2006 it is a Featured Article. I just love replying to really old threads :) --kingboyk 11:15, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
The abbreviation
[edit]Throughout Wikipedia I see references to the band abbreviated down to JAMs. Previously, in all other print media in the U.S., and what little I've seen from the U.K., it has been JAMMs. Is this in need of a fix (I'll do it) or is there some canonical reference for why it should only be one M. Note: I have not read The Illuminatus! Trilogy so if that is the source that could be how I (and others) missed it. --Geoff Capp 11:55, 31 July 2005 (UTC)
- Hm... Interesting - I'd never seen or even considered "JAMMs" before, but now I look it does seem to be a fairly popular spelling. FWIW, I found this quote on the sleeve of my "The White Room" cassette (capitalisation, spelling, and punctuation exactly as below):
- "This is what The KLF is about. Also known as The Justified Ancients of Mu Mu, furthermore known as The Jams..." (R. Lyte)
- While I wouldn't consider this canonical in any sense, but it suggests to me that at the very least "Jams" is an "accepted variant" spelling. It may even be like The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, for all I know, with "official" material writing it any which way... - IMSoP 19:44, 2 August 2005 (UTC)
- JAMMs was used consistently by the British music press in 1987, particularly the NME. I don't think it matters which one is used. - Drstuey 01:04, 5 August 2005 (UTC)
Disambiguation page
[edit]I'm wondering if this ought to be changed to a simple dab page? It doesn't say much that isn't in the Illuminatus or KLF articles. --kingboyk 12:41, 21 February 2006 (UTC)
